Had a lovely Sunday evening meal and had great service. A table nearby to us had a family of 10 seated at it and understandably it was noisy however I experienced very rude behaviour from a member of that family as they kept using the emergency exit near to where I was seated. they wanted to go outside and take pictures on a very chilly evening! I asked them politely if they could shut the door and this person said I should put a jacket on!! It isn't the Trooper's fault that they have the odd rude customer. However next time I would ask not to sit near a very busy group near the emergency exit! Or it should be clear that customers should not use the emergency exit maybe?

A relative arranged a get together at The Trooper Inn as it was a good central location.
Although situated in a quiet village the pub is certainly extremely popular. It's interior is bright clean and modern.
Not a perfect event, we were 25 minutes late getting our allotted table, the waiters were generally on the ball, although they seemed a bit disfunctional in organising the food. (E.G some orders were a bit later than the first batch and some missed)

The food is OK, but you don't really get anything extra in terms of quantity or finese to substantiate the higher than average prices. Service is stretched out with typically higher than average delay between courses, if I was a cynic it could be to help sell more of the expensive drinks. It is very busy and obviously meets with the requirements of the local younger age groups.
Would I go again, possibly, but I was not impressed.

We booked a table for 4 and when we arrived it was really very busy. We ordered a drink at the bar and waited to be seated.

Immediately we were seated we were asked what drinks we wanted and whilst we looked at the menu, the waiter kept popping past and topping up our glasses.

The service was good as was the food and we didn't have to ask once for our glasses to be refilled.

We will be back? Oh yes - in the next week or so actually!

We have eaten here before for a bar snack lunch which was very good but took far too long to come. Hoped that service would be better on a Sunday lunch visit.
Sadly far from it over an hour from getting to the restaurant to getting main course.
Then it was very ordinary, not particularly generous either - bit too popular with families lots of baby noise.
We will not be returning.

We went Saturday evening for my birthday celebrations(table of 6) waited 45mins for 3 starters to come out, as soon as they came out we asked for our mains ASAP due to some of the party not having starters to which they came out over cooked?! We were in the corner of the restaurant and the overall service and value for money was appalling. When we raised this the management were making excuses rather than trying to offer solutions and what made it more frustrating is tables nearby who ordered just after us got there starters within 10mins (same amount of starters)!! I certainly won’t be going back in a hurry. It’s a great shame because the atmosphere and evening was lovely, just wish the same could be said about the service and the food!
