“Beautiful Cottage, with a warm welcome, excellent location for the Peaks...amazing home made rock cakes!”
Reviewed 16 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

I stayed at Milk Maids Cottage with my two sons over Easter. Lovely cottage, beautifully clean and newly reburbished, with a great kitchen diner. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and found milk, tea, sugar, coffee and home made bread and rock cakes, which were amazing!

The cottage is located well for the Peak District and is set in a beautiful little village with the small market town of Ashbourne only 10 minutes drive away. If you are into being spun upside down and generally thrown around, its also only 1/2 an hour to Alton Towers.

I have stayed in many rented cottages and this is one of the best. If you haven't discovered the Peaks yet I would highly recommend it.

“Cosy, well equipped and friendly.”
Reviewed 8 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

Excellent base for exploring Derbyshire, quiet village with lovely walks nearby. It is a well appointed house, with a comfortable living room that has games and books and a TV/DVD. The house was clean and tidy and has a well equipped kitchen. The living area is spacious.

We appreciated the friendly welcome the owners gave us with home baked bread on arrival and helpful advice on local walks.

“The perfect year-round base to explore”
Reviewed 3 March 2014 for a stay in February 2014

If you're bold enough to take on a trip during the February half-term in the UK, you are going to want a warm and cosy base, sufficiently well equipped to keep the kids happy should the elements be against you. Milk Maid's cottage ticks all those boxes and more - warm, room to move around in and TV/DVD if you get really stuck - oh and a welcome pack of home-made bread, biscuits and milk on arrival.

Perfectly positioned to explore - whether it's the Manifold Valley, Peak District or Matlock and Bakewell. No shortage of things to do - rivers, stepping stones and caves to steam railways. The only problem we had was having the time to do all we wanted - even the weather played its part.

Thanks also to Liam, a welcoming and friendly host. A short stay, but one the kids already want to repeat.
