We had a fabulous dinner, with a great view of the lake as the sun set.
This was the first time I’d been to the restaurant, which is down a fairly steep foot path to the lakes edge, next to the Pump House theatre. That made for a stunning location!
Staff were super friendly. We were both impressed by the menu, which looked to be a couple of pages of French classics - a whole page of galettes, and some authentic starters, salads and mains. They also had a specials board which was their price-fixe menu- at $75 for 3 courses it would have been great value!
Instead, we both opted for the boeuf bourgignon, which came with thick slices of beef, and was really authentic right down to the small onions. It was delicious - I was glad the server had given us a spoon each for the gravy!
There were lots of nice little touches - we were given, at no charge, an amuse-bouche to try the duck mousse pate (very good), and the main course came with a big crouton also to soak up the sauce.
For dessert, I chose the raspberry crepe from the specials board, which came with cream, meringue and ice cream. The crepe was perfectly done, and the raspberry sauce was amazing.
My companion chose a chocolate fondant dessert with caramel sauce, which was so good it was gone before I had a chance to try it.
The wine list was short but good - we only tried the reds.
The restaurant was quite quiet, so I’m guessing it’s not that well known. But I will definitely be back - both the food and the wine were good value pricing for the quality, and it’s a great location.
