We ordered three different savoury galettes and they were all delicious. Generously portioned and well presented. We felt they were excellent value. Our dessert was scrumptious - can't remember the name of it! The staff were friendly and the service was good. There was seating outdoors, but we chose a table indoors next to the window. There was ample parking available next to the Pumphouse Theatre. Highly recommend this restaurant for a taste of French cuisine.

The cafe is located on the lakeside by the Takapuna pool. There are tables inside and outside of the cafe so you can watch the people playing in the water. The interior of the cafe is also quite nice, with a very casual but sophisticated feel to it. The prices are a bit on the expensive side, around the $25 mark but the food is quite different from other cafes.
The menu has a nice selection of French cuisine from hot meals like beef bourguignon and French onion soup, to galettes and crepes. They do give you a menu but it is also written on the blackboard on the walls.
I had the French onion soup along with the perigourdine galette. The french onion soup was very tasty and rich. I personally would have liked the cheese a bit more toasted. I also got a baguette on the side. The soup was on the sweet side, which is what I prefer, and I left the croutons inside to soak up the delicious soup. It had plenty of onions so it did have a nice texture to it. The perigourdine galette was the duck and mushroom one. I expected the fillings to be inside the galette but here it was placed offer the top of a cheese galette. The mushrooms had a nice flavour along with the duck. The potatoes gave it a nice body so it was filling. The potato chip garnish was also nice cause it gave the dish some crunch.
It had quite a nice view of the lake and the food was quite tasty. A nice hidden spot in Takapuna away from the bustle of the crowds.

Sad. Slow coffee, taste poor and rude manager. Shame. Great location. Was told to move tables rather than asked.

Nicely tucked away, with a beautiful view on the lake, the restaurant is tastefully French, cozy and clean.
Service was warm, timely and smiley.
We went for dinner as a family and enjoyed a savoury galette each (Avoriaz, Paris & Monaco) followed by a desert crêpe (my favorite : the Louis de Funes). Everything tasted really good, was nicely presented and service was good too.
Will definitely return, highly recommend.

I go to this cafe on a reasonably regular basis for morning tea or lunch. The service is always excellent, and they have a good selection of great tasting food. I think even those who might perhaps have a concern about having an overwhelming French menu will be pleasantly surprised.

Apart from the excellent service and food, what makes the cafe exceptional is the location on the shores of Lake Pupuke. Sitting out on the balcony, overlooking the lake, is an experience well beyond what the average cafe can provide!
