Stayed one night in queen room. The house has lots of character and was in a very convenient location to walk downtown. But despite it being windy and cool outside, our room was stifling hot through the night. Only two windows open a few inches, which doesn't let enough air in. Also, Hugel Ave is a busy street, so expect to hear traffic late into the night.
The hosts were very friendly and breakfast was excellent.
This property is perfect. We are not normally B&B people but being the middle of winter in Midland, we didn't want to end up at a hotel full of either hockey players or snowmobilers. This quiet property fit the bill perfectly. The hosts Alicia and Ross were accommodating and knowledgeable of the area. The bed comfortable and all of the amenities you could want. I would recommend moving this listing into the Bed ad Breakfast category to get better exposure as we found it under Vacation Rentals
Enjoyed breakfast, pleasant hostess but suffered through hottest nights this summer. 6 of us booked 3 bedrooms. Stayed with my husband in a small bedroom with a full size bed, 2 partly propped windows and cheap fan. No sleep. Also, hosts use the bathroom and knocked on door while I was using it.
Alicia and Ross made me feel right at home. Room was very comfortable, and house is beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious each morning. Would definitely recommend!

Having received a tip from a fellow traveller, we booked for two nights, thinking we would spend a full day in Midland and then move on. Even if we had not found it necessary to stay longer to see what still is just a part of what there is to do in that area, we likely would have wished to stay on for a couple more nights (which we did, happily)? When it was time to go, we almost felt we were leaving a home away from home, although we don’t often have such delicious breakfasts as those Ross prepared for us. Alicia provided sound advice on places to visit. Evening chats following our touring was a lovely way to end our days. We definitely will be back to the Georgian Bay area and if it takes us close to Midland, we will want to stay at the Captain’s House for sure.
