Why do you charge for parking? Other hotels offer free parking.

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Aug 2023via mobile
Location of this hotel is great. It’s close to many food attractions. Service is good. But why do you charge for parking???? 6 dollar per day parking in Toronto suburb is very unreasonable. Nearby hotels offer free, secured parking. Hope this situation will be resolved.

This was our fourth time at this Marriott Townesplace location. My family and I are pleasantly pleased with this hotel, as we choose to rebook our stay here most times we are in town. Staff are very friendly and overall the location is very clean. We were on floor 9 and had a king bed and sofa bed as we were 3 people. The room had a little kitchenette with a full size fridge, stove, pots, pans, microwave and dishwasher! Great if you plan on bringing a lot of takeout from the near by restaurants. The sofa bed was definitely older with a thinner mattress but for a short stay is definitely doable. We had to call the front for more pillows and sheets for the sofa bed as they didn’t really provide it with proper bedding. The rooms in the townesplace are definitely not fancy and a little older but for the price is definitely good. FOR DRIVERS: They now charge $6 a day for parking. In our previous stays parking was free so this has changed! BREAKFAST IS INCLUDED BUT, it is the same couple of things everyday. The same eggs sausage and toast. If you get tired of it there’s a tim hortons near by which is what we did after 1-2 days. The breakfast spot is on the 14th floor in a very small boardroom. You have to wait 5 minutes till a spot opens up and there’s typically a line for food. I really wish they would just do the breakfast in the dining room of the lobby as the boardroom upstairs is quite small with only 5-10 tables for all these people. The cleaners did a good job of cleaning but we noticed some days the bed sheets did not get changed. The TV in our room was also quite small but there was a lot of channels. the remote is very limited tho to only changing volume and changing channels, no other options or features such as TV Guide/Netflix. These are just some minor details I am including incase this information is important to anyone. Overall, we will DEFINITELY be back again for our fifth stay here, small changes to be made but overall always happy! See u soon

My wife and I recently spent three nights at the TownPlace Suites hotel in Markham, Ontario. We booked the room with our Bonvoy points, so I can’t comment on price.

Markham is a suburb about 15 miles north of Toronto. We picked this location since it was near relatives we were visiting. It’s located on a fairly busy highway with various commercial businesses nearby. There is a Chinese restaurant (QJD Peking Duck), which we did not visit, on the first floor.

The thirteen-story building actually holds two Marriott properties: Courtyard by Marriott on floors 2 - 8 and TownPlace on floors 9 - 14. The registration desk serves both hotels. The lobby has several areas for socializing. There also is a Bistro/Bar area. Conference rooms, a business center and a spa are off to the side. A fitness center and indoor pool are on the lower level.

Wifi is free. Surprisingly, parking is not. Signs say that it costs $6 Canadian per day to park in the attached multi-level garage, but we apparently were not charged.

Check-in was courteous and efficient. You need your keycard to access the elevator.

TIP: There is no 13th floor; the elevator buttons go from 12 to 14!

We were assigned room 915.

TIP: the room was almost across the hall from the ice machine and one wall of the room directly abutted the elevator bank. While the noise was neglible, you might want to keep this in mind if you’re a very light sleeper.

The room was clean and decorated in what I would call ikea style. It was like living in a studio apartment. A flat screen TV was on a two-drawer chest/dresser. A wall-mounted desk had overhead shelving, a vertical cupboard, desk chair and rollout table.

The kitchen section had a sink, two-burner electric range top, coffee pot, microwave, dishwasher (!) and fairly large refrigerator. There were multiple cabinets and drawers filled with practically every kitchen item you’d need: pots, pans, dishes, flatware, soap, etc. And if they’re still something you might need, chances are you can get it from the front desk. (See pic.)

A full-size closet contained an iron/ironing board. No sign of a safe.

The sitting area contained a loveseat, ottoman and floor lamp.

The king-size bed had five pillows. The bed was a little soft, but comfortable. It was flanked by nightstands and wall-mounted lamps with electric outlets.

The bathroom was average-sized. The vanity had lots of counter space and several drawers. And a hair dryer. The shower was quite large, taking up about a third of the room. There was wall-mounted hand soap and hair/body wash (in the shower) by ALICE & Co+ botanicals. Shower pressure and temperature were fine.

TIP: Don’t be alarmed when you flush the toilet - the sound is comparable to that generated by an airplane commode.

Breakfast was included with the room and was served on the 14th floor. (Also requiring keycard access.) The offerings consisted of the usual combination of hot & cold items.

Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would recommend it if you are looking for lodging in the Markham area.

Strange that there no reviews from 2022...The room is ok, but internet is very slow at peak times. Breakfast has the same eggs and sausage everyday. No fresh fruit. Waffle station. Front desk personnel were very friendly

Terrible customer service. We always have employees that go above and beyond with our rate accommodations however this place has front desk employees who go below and lower except for the one female who is in charge of the kitchen. They should learn how to accommodate customers from the kitchen lady. Shame on their front desk staff.

Room tip: Do not book here they will charge you more than what you would normally pay. There is low diversification in employees
