This is an interesting one, so make yourself comfortable before reading.
We were a family of 6 so we booked 3 rooms, all with two double beds. Off the bat, I liked that this was an option as we weren't couples and sharing beds would not have been ideal.
The Good:
The service was friendly and efficient upon checking in as well as checking out (they were happy to look after our luggage after checking out so we didn't have to have all our bags in our car during the day).
The breakfast was simple but was more than adequate for our needs - coffee, tea, pastries, boiled eggs, cereal, bagels, toast, yogurt, juices were all available. On certain days you can upgrade to enjoy fried eggs, bacon and other hot dishes, but we didn't feel the need.
There were complimentary toiletries provided (shampoo, conditioner and body lotion). Some liquid body wash would have been great too, but perhaps bar soap (provided) is more common in North America. Not a big deal.
The location for me was convenient for nearby malls and to visit my aging relatives who were at opposite sides of town but both similar distance from this location. The T&T supermarket and Shoppers Drugmart were within walking distance (2 minutes by car) which was very convenient.
Plenty of free parking spaces.
The Bad:
The room only had 2 paper for tea and coffee and very thin plastic cups in the bathroom which meant it wasn't possible for me to stand my toothbrush in the cup without it toppling over.
The coffee machine was filthy inside (I white dusty residue), to the extent I would not dare to drink anything that came out of it.
Bizarrely, the breakfast room had metal knives and forks but spoons were plastic. Not so eco friendly.
Although we agreed to have our room cleaned only once every two days (we didn't feel it was necessary to clean daily) the housekeeping staff were not very thorough and only vacuumed when we asked them to, pointing out the carpet could benefit from a vacuum. We had hoped that since we did not require them to clean every day, when they DID come, they might be more thorough.
There was a big party on the Saturday night for what looked like high school kids. This was on the ground floor, but I think some of the kids had rooms (or one room) on our floor and were running back and forth and making quite a noise until the party ended. This wasn't the fault of the hotel, but would have been great if the staff at least attempted to ask the kids to keep it down in the common areas.
Conclusion:
Given the price we paid, I have no hesitation to recommend this place for any cost conscious travelers. None of the negative issues were serious enough to avoid this place in my opinion but if any of them could be improved, this place would be even better.
