We didn’t get a deposit back because one was never charged.
As far as the rental goes, it was not for us. We are in our seventies and there are to many stairs. We only used the kitchen area and master bedroom. There were only two of us. The kitchen was very nice. It has everything you need for cooking, though we didn’t. We ate out. The place does need some TLC. We couldnt open the sliding glass door from the kitchen as the rails were so dirty. The hot tub was also dirty, but a man came the second day and cleaned it. The master bed didn’t have blankets. Only a thin cover. The bathrooms were very clean. There was no deck table or chairs. The owner was nice.
We were attracted to the property by the online description and location for South Lake Tahoe amenities. The location was as described and a relatively short drive to the lake and beaches which are absolute stunning and a local supermarket, Rayleys to stock up on necessary provisions. Also I'd highly recommend the Burger Lounge for the best burgers we've ever had, anywhere.
Unfortunately the property itself was not up to scratch. There is no doubt it is spacious and a great property for large groups but it all feels a bit tired and in need of some TLC. The hot tub was a big draw for us and one of the deciding factors for us to book however it wasn't clean, the temperature never rose above tepid and the jets totally ineffective. We did raise this with the owner who gave instructions on how to clean it and alter the temperature but nothing we did made a difference. On our first evening the boiler broke so we were without any hot water for a day and a half of our two day stay, granted this was not the fault of the owner however instead of calling a plumber straightaway we were sent text messages by the owner on how to clean the filter on the boiler, not visible or easily accessible and not how we wanted to spend our precious time in the resort. Eventually on our insistence a plumber was called and arrived to resolve at 9pm on our final evening. What has been very disappointing is the owners subsequent handling of our complaint, having spent a disproportionate time over our two day stay resolving property issues it is frustrating that the owner has now chosen to ignore our emails. A sour note to what should have been an idyllic stay.
My friends and I had a great stay at this vacation house on the edge of the South Lake Tahoe country club. The house had all amenities needed for hanging out and relaxing and Derek was readily available by text with any questions we had. It was also in fairly close proximity (15-20 min drive) to everywhere we wanted to go for outdoor activities (hiking trails, etc.), which was convenient. I would definitely consider staying here again if I ever find myself back in beautiful SLT.
Will make a review once my cleaning deposit is received! Until then we will hold off on giving a review of this property.
