Lovely little place very quiet right by the water. Friendly owners. Trevor explained everything and showed us around. We stayed 2 nights and so borrowed a couple of DVDs at no charge. Well equipped kitchen and amenities are very clean. Would definitely recommend

We stayed for 4 nights (family of 5, 3 kids 8-12 plus our dog) during the school holidays in our caravan. We were looking for somewhere pet friendly not too far from Auckland so thought we give this place a go. Really well set up little camp ground - they have pretty much thought of everything the place would need, including a bait freezer :-) :-) There was a boat ramp on site but we used the one at Parua (deeper water) only 5 min down the road. Weather was great for fishing so did not spend much time on land exploring Whangarei Heads but did get to Ocean Beach which was amazing. Camp owners bought the camp 3 years ago - really friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended.

I haven’t camped much but compared to other campsites, I thought this place was simply ok and nothing special. Firstly the positive: nice owners, lovely view, functional and clean facilities. The negatives: we were given a tent site that was pretty much on mud and gravel and very little grass so this wasn’t a very comfortable stay. You had to pay to use the showers! When the cost of camping at this site is the same as a twin room in a lovely youth hostel from where I am currently writing this review and I don’t have to pay for a hot shower...I know which of the two I’d rather choose.

Great location on the point where you have a great view all around, good facilities with a few kitchens and good clean toilets and shower plus laundry, clean, friendly & helpful staff, a little shop at the office. Book swap in the kitchen. We stayed in the van so don't know what the cabins/motels are like but they looked lovely from the outside.

Room tip: We stayed in our van so didnt see the motels in the inside but they looked nice from the outside

We have a caravan and booked a powered site for three nights over Auckland Anniversary Weekend. Loved being parked right on the waters edge. It was magic! The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough. Also we could have our little dog there. Not far to drive into Whangarei and a great dinner on the Saturday night at the neighbouring Parua Tavern. Perfect relaxing weekend!

Hi Debbie,

thank you so much for your lovely review. This makes all the hard work we do just that much more enjoyable. Cath and I work long hours trying to make the park the best we can in the small window of time, 10am exit time and 3pm check-in time, so you can enjoy the area just that much more. It is customers like you that make the camping world.

All the best from us both.
