The Kawau Beach House is so much more than a beautiful location - although it certainly is beautiful. Along with a 20-something strong crew of family and friends, we recently had the pleasure of taking over the Beach House for four nights to celebrate our wedding, after which no-one wanted to leave.
Bevan & Per, assisted by Steve, were fantastic hosts, making our whole group feel welcome, with everyone commenting on what a great team they were and what an excellent job they did taking care of us all during the stay, as well as taking care of our 65 guests during the wedding. Special mention must be made of the food, which is masterminded by Bevan and is absolutely spectacular. Fresh ingredients, delicious flavours, plenty of variety and generous servings ensured no-one went hungry and had us all looking forward to mealtimes. Per also makes a wicked Bloody Mary (which came in handy the day after the wedding!). The wine list is small but well thought out-we are made up of mostly wine lovers, so enjoyed making our way through the offerings.
The rooms vary in size-we had the beach front bridal suite which is spacious and light filled, with stunning beach views of course! Our guests were spread out amongst the other rooms and all reported the accommodation to be very clean & tidy, with lovely linens and comfortable beds. Although this venue is so beautiful with so much to see and do, that you won't be spending much time in your rooms. We were even lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins come into the bay-right up to the shoreline-on the morning of the wedding.
If you are considering visiting Kawau Island, make sure you come by the Beach House-if not for the night then just for lunch and a wine. You won't regret it. We have already decided to come back for our one year anniversary and are looking forward to it already! Thank you Beven & Per for an unforgettable stay.
From Nick, Jen, family & friends.
