Great 1 hr hike to the top, we followed the 4WD track. Steep in places but plenty of rest points. Definitely worth the effort to see the amazing views!

Mount manganui is the famous attraction in tauranga. Anyone can take a walk or a run to the summit or do the base track. A walk to summit might take 30 to 60 mins depending on your fitness level. Best time is to walk is during summer as the whether is amazing. This is very famous spot for the locals and tourists. The scenes from the summit and on the way are mind blowing. Best to take water with you. Tracks and steps are already in place to help the people. The view of the sea, city and harbour are simply wonderful. Best if you can start the walk before 7a.m or after 5.00 pm to get rid of the heat. Good track to have your fitness levels.

The walk didn't take as long as projected on the information board at the bottom - we walked up the 4x4 track to the summit and the views (and sense of achievement!) at the summit was definitely worth it ... and free!!
I was surprised by the number of fellow 'mountaineers' who did the trip in flip flops and other lose footwear - I even saw a couple of low heals. Parts of the track are steep and ankle injuries are possible without appropriate support.
Something I experienced (and have done on a few other walks over the last year or so) - people walking with Bluetooth Speakers playing loud music.
I always enjoyed walks in a natural environment for the sounds of nature, i.e, away from manufactured noise, and find overly loud and publicly broadcast music somewhat jarring to idyllic peacefulness.

You won’t be disappointed after making the 232 metres climb to the summit (40 mins each way) the views from the top are incredible. The paths are clearly marked and are in good condition. The climb involves stairs so is not suitable for wheel chairs or push chairs. Simply magnificent.
