This was my 2nd visit over an 18month time frame, it's obvious that a lot of work has gone into the displays. The material is constantly being updated, & of a very high standard. Many memories came flooding back of my own service during the war... Well worth a visit... The volunteers are helpful & knowledgeable, most having first hand experience of the war. A selection of food products is available, as are non alcoholic beverages... parking is no problem. The extensive library is, in itself, an absolute GEM.... I would highly recommend The Lion & Tusk museum to not only former Rhodesians, but to any persons with an interest in military matters, especially those pertaining to the African continent...

Well worth a visit. Well organised tribute to what might have been a modern African state as compared to what finally happened. Souvenirs have been collected from a range of locations to save them from destruction in what is obviously a labour of love

This place was incredible - a hidden gem.

We found it by accident, looking for things to do after arriving in Mt Maunganui, but what an awesome surprise. Having read several books on the period I was pleasantly surprised to find a Rhodesian military museum a few blocks from the hotel.

The staff were friendly and informative - passionate in fact - and willing to share a few stories and talk us around the displays. The displays themselves were first rate - as good as the official military museums in Devonport and Waiouru, despite limited space. Cramming a period accurate helicopter was a stroke of genius; the authentic equipment and uniforms donated by former members of the Rhodesian forces.

Nothing like it and again, what a surprise to find such a place on [almost] my back doorstep. I'll go back again and spend half a day there I swear.

It was great for my wife and I to visit the museum. It exceeded our expectations and was great to meet up with a couple of old comrades at the same time. A great conversation ensued. I thoroughly recommend this attraction. Graeme & Sharon Trass, Taupo
