“Cosy Coastguards Cottage right on the Sea Wall”
Reviewed 11 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Beautifully equipped with cosy log burner, kept us nice and warm after bracing walks on the beach to Camber Sands. Great location with Access to Romney Marsh and the Antient Town of Rye. Everything you could possible need, the cottage is perfect for a family of four. Will be even better in the summer when you can enjoy a BBQ on the back deck.

“we'll be back”
Reviewed 5 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Not your average rental - great beds and linen, decor and kitchen - its quite clear this is a home as much as a holiday let. Beach is endless and beautiful and with a base within earshot of the waves the cottage was a great break for us as a family.
The crockery and kitchen knives were as good as we have at home, and the welcome pack included a bottle of wine which was a great touch.
We had great weather but i'd be equally tempted to book in winter when the waves would be crashing on the rocks and you could light the fire and read a book.

“Comfy, well-furnished and oh-so-peaceful”

We had a five day break in Coastguards Lantern: it's a lovely, well equipped cottage, very peaceful and comfortable. There was a welcome pack of food awaiting us and we found that had everything we needed to chill and relax.
Lovely walks on the huge sandy beach when the tide is out....but beware if you don't like walking on pebbles: it comes in again at 0.5metre a minute !
There are some great places to eat locally, and a nicely enclosed patio area to sit out in to eat at home,. We were able to take full advantage of both.
We're more than happy to recommend Coastuards Lantern for a great seaside break, and there's plenty of local history to go and explore as well.

How easy was it to book the property? How helpful were the directions to the property?

Liked best: Peace and quiet and comfy
Liked least: The unfinished sea-wall repair work. It'll be done by December2015 though

“Great place for a getaway with family-even if the weather is bad!”
Reviewed 13 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We went as a three generation family group staying in the Lantern and Beachhouse. Both cottages were delightful and so well equipped. Everything you could ask for, especially the wood burning stove with abundant fuel. We were hoping for a spell of good weather but got a blustery Romney Marsh welcome. It didn't matter because we were happy to stay indoors and venture out in small bursts. The beach is beautiful and the surroundings atmospheric. The dog loved it too. The coastal defence work didn't impinge. The surrounding area has a lot to offer in terms of interest and variety, from the unique environment of Dungeness and around to historic Rye. Many thanks to Richard and Sophie who responded immediately to our call for help in understanding some of the less obvious intricacies of the heating etc! We would thoroughly recommend this and hope to go again and be able to take advantage of the area at the back and the BBQ.

Thank very much for taking the time to post a review of your stay. It was lovely to meet you. Coastguards Cottages are a fantastic place for a break all year round whether the sun is shining or snuggled up infront of the log burner as the weather goes wild on a winters day! We look forward to welcoming you back very soon! Richard & Sophie

“Pretty Much Perfect”
Reviewed 2 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We had a lovely time at Coastguard's Lantern with our four year old twins. The cottage is very stylishly furnished and extremely well equipped. Lots of thoughtful extras like a picnic bag, beach towels and a good selection of DVDs, books and games. We also loved the enclosed outdoor space, log burner, comfy beds, views of Romney Marsh and beach on the doorstep.
