The burgers were amazing! My husband ordered Ha-Waihi Surf burger and I had the Classic burger minus the bun and asked for addition of cheese and beetroot. We demolished them in minutes as they were so delicious! Oh and don’t forget to add a side of house salad!
Couldn’t fault anything!

We have visited this place 3 times in the last 2 weeks and have been impressed each time with the vibe and above all the food. Nice touches to each dish. Best burger patties l have tasted in ages. This place is a real gem

A rustic Cafe/ restaurant that lives up to its name. If you're after a nice variety of food this place has a great menu. However the reason for our four stars is because the service needs a major overhaul. We were all disappointed that it took forty five minutes for the first dish to come out. So, notwithstanding, IF you are prepared to wait you will not be disappointed with the food - it is great. Portion size right on the money and flavorful a with good umami balance. We would go back for the food but may be hesitant because of the lengthy time to table service.

The Surf Shack is the place for a post-beach coffee and meal, with dog-friendly tables and very generous and delicious food.
We believe it is a local beach visit institution.
