Relaxed and friendly ..

Review of Beaches Motel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 14 Apr 2019
Traditionally furnished NZ motel , a hop skip and jump from the sand Sadly rained while I was there so no unusual forms of locomotion could be attempted Relaxed friendly owners , I made use of the laundry facilities , drying rack provided so well equipped Long ish 20 mins plus walk for food , worth taking the car The local pub has perfectly acceptable food but the RSA is said to be better Good wifi , after a bottle of beer I snuggled down under the quilt listening to the rain and slept well

We were two couples and stayed for one night in a two bedroom unit. We saw the vacancy sign as we passed. We were met by Cyrus and Roberta and found out they had only owned this motel for 2 weeks. They couldn't do enough for us. It is only a short walk to the beach across the road and into the town for shops. It was obvious talking to them that some updating needed to be carried out and they were organising this. The units and equipment were all clean and tidy and we would certainly recommend this motel as a place to stay. The position of the taps over the sinks and basin (which Cyrus advised he was going to change) was the only thing preventing us giving a 5star rating.

Beaches Motel is a very comfortable, laid back place for a few days away.
It's walking distance to restaurants and cafes, and only 50 odd metres from a beautiful beach.
The hosts Steve and Alana obviously know the area well and are helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble.
we came away relaxed and recharged. Totally recommend - just great.

Due to flooding we were unable to return home to Tauranga and decided to find a Motel to stay in overnight. We came across Beaches Motel and just wanted to thank Steve Davies for all his help and welcome. Having arrived, Steve did his very best to make us very welcome and understood our situation. He gave us a good discount on the room rate due to this being an unplanned stay and as my partner had no contact lens cleaning solution did his very best by ringing around friends for help to find some. Even though he was unable to locate any, it was very kind of him to go over and above what was expected. Luckily with help of Google we found a solution to our issue. Facilities were in the main good but what was stand out was the personal welcome we got from Steve. Well done on a great example of the hospitality that good people can show.

We were referred here by the tourist office in Waihi an got the last available accommodation. It was a two bedroom unit but as we were only 2 we agreed to close off on bedroom and were charred for a one bed unit. Comfy bed, pillows and facilities although we only used tea/ coffee making as we had meals out. Steve the owner very helpful and relaxed. Good location just across the road from the beach (which is beautiful and pretty much deserted) but you don’t get views from the motel.

Waihi Beach is not exactly the centre of the world, but the motel is well located opposite the beach and not far from the centre. Our unit was very large and full of facilities; double and twin rooms, shower room and separate toilet, kitchen area with hob, microwave, kettle, fridge and sink. Plus a dining table and sofa. On site are facilities for laundry, fish cleaning and children's trampoline. The whole unit would easily accommodate a family of four for a week. Milk, wifi and DVDs are provided too. If you want a place that is near a beach and away from civilisation then Waihi Beach is the place, and this motel is a good stop.
