Excellent location on Grand Anse Beach

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 May 2024
My husband and I stayed at the Coyaba April 6-April 13 in a superior ocean-view room near the beach. Here are the pros and cons of our stay:

PROS
- excellent location on beautiful Grand Anse beach
- water was perfect, no seaweed and beach kept very clean
- charming, small, locally owned resort for a an authentic Caribbean experience
- beautiful gardens
- new beach chairs in top-notch condition
- room was large, nice balcony and kept clean
- Stagg and Carib beer available in bottles
- friendly and attentive staff

CONS
- food was average at best, we never went hungry
- coffee was weak in the morning - it tasted like it was instant Nescafe mix
- if you wanted a cappucino or espresso they will charge extra. I think it was $2 surcharge so we never bothered
- house wine was undrinkable - it tasted like a powdered mix
- we found it very weird and off-putting that they make you dress up for dinner in the buffet restaurant, as if it is a five-star establishment in a big city. It is not anywhere close that. It is a very strange rule so we always went to the a la carte for dinner, which was a much nicer setting with better food anyway
Date of stay: April 2024
Room Tip: Skip dinner in the buffet restaurant unless you want to dress up. It is a bizarre rule

One of the best hotels we have ever been to. From the moment we were greeted by the friendly staff to the time we left we have nothing but excellent memories. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, the room was always cleaned impeccably, food was always plentiful with good choice and the general atmosphere of the hotel was always one of happiness and enjoyment. Excellent position on a beautiful beach with plenty of sunbeds and shade available. We certainly hope to return to this great hotel.

Staff are so friendly in a locally owned hotel. Beautiful setting on a great beach. All the rooms have great views and spacious. The drink offerings were good and a variety of different foods. The location is perfect and allows both easy travel and a lot to do near the hotel.

This was our second stay at this family-run hotel on the beautiful Grand Anse beach.

The staff here are amazing, super friendly, polite and helpful from management down. The ethos is very customer focussed and designed to make you feel special and relaxed from Day 1.

Very much a boutique hotel with great quality food and drink.

We will be visiting again - a gem on Grand Anse.

We have just returned from two fantastic weeks at the lovely Coyaba Beach Resort. The outstanding feature of the place is the staff who are friendly and cheerful and can never do enough to ensure that you are having a great holiday. The rooms are a decent size and are cleaned to a high standard. The food was varied and very tasty with a number of menu's to choose from. Most evenings the meal is waitress service which we have never had before at an all inclusive resort. We celebrated our 20th Wedding anniversary whilst we were there and the hotel delivered a flower arrangement and a bottle of sparking wine to our room before dinner which we thought was a lovely thoughtful gesture. The gardens were stunning and I would highly recommend doing the garden tour with the marvellous gardener Andy King. This man knows everything that there is to know about the gardens and even if you are not a keen gardener he makes it very interesting. The hotel offer free yoga and thai chi sessions each week along with guided walks, cocktail making classes and other things. All inclusive guests are also offered various activities from the dive centre team - snorkelling, kayaking etc which I believe are free of charge although we didn't avail ourselves of these. The beach is stunning and its great to walk along there before breakfast and see the locals swimming and enjoying their beach. If nature is your thing you can see mocking birds, humming birds and many others along with lizards. If you like venturing out there are plenty of places to visit and a trip into St Georges on the local bus is quite an experience. For other trips the guest services team in reception can help you with your requirement. There were a lot of guests who have visited multiple times and I can fully understand why.

This was our 40th Anniversary and we could not have made a better choice for an exceptional experience in the Caribbean.
The service from the staff and their friendly nature was one a lot of hotels can learn from.
The rooms were large and with excellent air conditioning. The food was varied and of a high quality.
My wife went on the garden tour which she found extremely informative and said the gardens were beautiful, the tortoise was also mentioned!
We booked a 1/2 day tour through the helpful David and was taken on the tour by Dexter who hi highly recommend.
The beach is the jewel of the crown, the bar staff come out on to the beach to see if you would like a drink, they also moved the sun beds on to the beach for you. I suggest getting up early and enjoy the beautiful turquoise sea with the locals.
I can see why so many people return and we will be two of those in the near future.

Room tip: Check the notice board for the rum tasting session and garden tour.
