Remote but good instructions helped us locate the impressive villa without issue. The villa was well equipped with everything you would need and perhaps more. Bath jacuzzis were fab - a nice surprise. Morning views were excellent and the location meant it was a good base from which we could explore the island. Great patisserie in Vrysses along with bakery...put on extra pounds from all the delicious treats. Great recommendations for restaurants and local attractions in the welcome guide - a nice touch.

“Average villa, average location but could do a little better.”
Reviewed 12 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This is a difficult review, because of our party of four: two Irish two Australians: one loved it, one thought is was poor and two thought it was average: it is really down to your experiences and expectations.
We all agreed on the following: the beds are rock hard even for people who like hard beds. We are all fit but you really cannot walk to a decent restaurant, the nearest decent restaurant(s) is a 15 to 30 minute drive. The living room and kitchen in effect have no windows and if you leave the doors open (or door windows open) the flies come in because there are no fly screens on these. The manager did replace the coffee machine when requested but we did not want to ask for a frying pan and other items one would expect. Some bedrooms were so small our bags were left outside the bedroom door. The kitchen and bathrooms are getting a bit old and tardy. Yes the nearby dogs do bark at night. On a PLUS side: the pool and outside areas are fantastic. The kitchen and and living room space are very good too. The air-conditioning and wi-fi works brilliantly. It is fairly remote on the island which we are judging as a good thing (there are other houses around). Mountain views are very good.

Liked best: The pool and outdoor areas.
Liked least: Beds, kitchen equipment, noise (dogs, cockrel and some neighbours). Poor value for money.

Management Response
13 Aug 2015
Thanks for your review and rating our services as excellent. It does appear that this country Villa did not meet with all your tastes, which is a shame. Villa Faye is a painstakingly renovated authentic country house built to keep the sun out, to which modern conveniences have been added. I'm so pleased you all agreed that the outside was a delight. There is a pretty taverna down by the river in Vrisses but walking in the heat is not for everyone. We will check out the beds - and also replace the frying pan! I wonder what happened to the last one? It would certainly been replaced for you, had you mentioned it. That's what excellent services do!

“Lovely rural villa”
Reviewed 8 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We stayed at Villa Faye for a week at the end of June, beginning of July. The Villa is lovely; built in a traditional style, very clean and very well appointed with plenty of room inside. Outside the eating area is great with a lovely traditional BBQ and wood oven and a good pool that is big enough to swim properly in. We went with teenagers but the pool would be great for younger children as the same shallow depth though out. The Villa is in a very rural position up a dead end country lane, and surrounded by olive groves with sheep with bells all around. A short drive from Vrisses to the small supermarkets and baker or a nice 20 minute walk to fetch morning bread.

Only downside was the very firm mattresses on the beds which took some getting used to. Also stairs are steep if you have very young children or are more elderly, although one bedroom is on the ground floor, but up two quite steep steps.

If you like a rural position and have use of a car to visit and explore western Crete then this is a great place to stay.

“Lovely Villa with great views”
Reviewed 10 September 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Beautiful villa tastefully decorated with a great swimming pool which was well looked after by the villa owner.Due to high winds at night there were more leaves in the pool but Manousos kept it sparkling and clear much to our daughter's delight. The villa had comfortable beds, great views and a lovely shaded area for eating outside. We travelled with my parents so the downstairs bedroom was ideal, with just one step leading to their bedroom.
