So yes the Maldives itself is a paradise but this resort is the perfect fit. Arrival was smooth and check in very easy. Immediately shown to our Deluxe Pool Villa and followed by our luggage 5 minutes later. The room was fantastic. Extremely clean and spacious, fantastic bathroom, great pool and 4M from the beach. It was cleaned to a very high standard everyday, minibar kept well stocked and turn down also good. We were very happy.

Food: We liked Just Wok and Just Grill but we all preferred the buffet. Just Gill and Just Wok serve lovely food in a beautiful and fairly intimate setting. The Buffet restaurant serves a fantastic variety of food for all 3 meals - I think it is the best buffet we have experienced and we have travelled a fair bit. I like Indian and Maldivian food very much so the authentic options were a big selling point for me!

Drink: Great selection and great service all the time

Pool: Brilliant. Very clean and more than we hoped for. Lots of sun beds and was the hub of the hotel for us.

Adult only Pool and Bar: We didn’t really use this as we had 8 year old twins with us. I didn’t miss it or feel the need to use it but I imagine if you do not have children it would be nice and relaxing.

Sang’s Bar: This is the main bar next to the Pool. It was very nice with a wide selection of alcohol and soft drinks. Staff are very friendly and will always meet your needs.

Rock Bar: Nice to visit each evening or on the occasional evening. It could do with 2 cocktails a day rather than 1. Kids loved it as different fish appear at night. Also it is a fantastic sunset and sky.

The staff are what really makes this resort special. They are extremely attentive and couldn’t do more for you. Any worries or issues you have are immediately resolved (not that we had any). I can’t compliment them enough.

Special thanks to Lahiru and his team at the Sang’s Bar. Lahiru was fantastic and couldn’t have been better with our children. He was genuine and an outstanding addition to our holiday as well as the rest of his team. THANKS!

In the restaurant Sahiba was so kind and friendly and is a real asset to the resort in general. There were many others worth mentioning but I didn’t always catch their names!

Snorkelling: The house reef is very nice. We saw turtles most days, sharks, rays and a huge abundance of fish. Exactly what you would expect from the Maldives. We spent a lot of time in the sea and were never disappointed.

Spa: We were entitled to 3 free treatments per adult. These were very good indeed. The best I have had included in any resort. Highly recommended.

Generally this is a proper 5 star resort. The staff are also 5 star which goes a long way. I think it is likely we will return which is rare for us!

I can’t thank the OBLU Sangeli resort enough. We loved it and will never forget it.

Firstly the location - stunning. Pictures will never capture the beauty of the view from anywhere on the resort, especially from our water villa. As for the resort itself, that is also fantastic.

The staff in particular are wonderful - polite, professional, thoughtful and always looking for ways to make your stay as good as it can be.

A special mention to Sikdar from housekeeping, Raj for the best Pina Coladas at the Adults Only bar area, Prince and Mona from TGI Diving and Aslan for his lunchtime banter.

The food - sooooo good. There is a main restaurant, The Courtyard, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as a buffet. There's a good choice of different dishes at each meal, and the Indian cuisine is particularly good. There is another restaurant in the Adults Only area that serves a limited lunchtime menu, but yet again the food is excellent. Also in this area are the Just Wok and Just Grill restaurants. If you're on the resort for a week you get to visit each of these once. Don't miss it as the food and service at both are superb.

The Dive Centre - Excellent but a bit expensive compared to other dive centres. However the diving is amazing. So many things to see and the visibility was great.

Any negatives? A couple but minor and 1st world TBH. Our room was really lovely but there are a couple of bits that would benefit from a bit of TLC, especially the pool which was in need of a regrout. And we prefer being served more often when we eat and this was limited as explained above. Did either of these detract from our enjoyment of our time in the resort? Most definitely not.

Overall an absolutely fantastic time, and many wonderful memories made 😊
