We have spent several amazing days at OBLU Select at Sangeli and I want to share my experience.
It’s a beautiful island with white sands, blue water, lots of palms and other plants, and all of these make it look like a paradise where you can enjoy sun, ocean or rest in the shade.
We came by the speedboat from Male, it took us around an hour, so its quite close. The resort has two islands, one of which is for adults only during the daytime.
The hotel is new, and rooms look cozy, welcoming and sparkling. We had beach villa with a nice outdoor bathroom, just a few steps from the ocean.
We took Serenity package, which is an all-inclusive meal plan, and also included two sea-trips and 45 minutes of SPA - massage of your choice. I took aroma therapy massage, I was just like in heaven. Also the package included 2 dinners at the restaurants - Simply Veg and Just Grill, which was also an enjoyable thing and gave us opportunity to try nice food.
Breakfasts, lunches and dinners at the main restaurant were also delicious, the choice was rich and everything we tried tasted good.
Also, snorkeling equipment is provided for all the length of stay, and we could use kayaks and paddle boards - without any additional charge.
The hotel personnel is very welcoming, friendly and they do everything to make the stay the most comfortable and enjoyable.
In the evening it nice to spend some time at the bar, relaxing and listening to the music (they have nice singers), dancing, or just talking to your beloved.
It’s also great to do stargazing or go closer to water at nighttime and see some glowing plankton.
The only thing which made us a bit upset, was sunset fishing - no one was lucky to catch something.
But what made us happy was that after check out we stayed at the island till the evening (we had a night flight), so we could enjoy sun and ocean. The hotel has the departure lounge, where you can rest, shower and keep your things.
We’ve been to Maldives before, and enjoyed before, but this stay with OBLU is just above any expectations, it was fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel for families with children, for honeymooners, for friends, for anyone who wants to add a bit of magic to their life.

I'm not sure what I can write to explain how much I loved Oblu. We spent 10 nights/11 days, celebrating the holidays and ringing in the new year. 2020 was a terrible year so a vacation was much needed. We were very fortunate to be able to go on vacation and spend it in quite possibly the most beautiful place on earth, the Maldives.

Staying at Oblu was just perfect. I'm not one to write about such things because I am always skeptical about reviews, especially those that are overly positive. Ironically I selected Oblu based on all the positive reviews on Trip Advisor. And trust me when I tell you that all the positive reviews are true. I experienced it myself, having had the best family vacation ever.

Our beach villa was great (room 108) - spacious and airy with an amazing outdoor bathroom. My 7 year old twins loved the outdoor shower; after spending a day at the beach they were very excited and willing to take a shower! The beach in front of our villa was perfect. The water was calm, shallow and crystal clear (I probably took over 300 photos of just the water alone- absolutely beautiful) - we enjoyed swimming every morning and afternoon on what felt like our own private beach as most people at the resort were at the main beach and pool.

We also enjoyed snorkeling around the reefs which is accessible right off the main beach - the variety of sea life was incredible from sharks, parrot fish, groupers, snappers, lobsters, jack fish and whole host of other species too many to name. We went on a amazing snorkeling trip, arranged via TGI Dive center, to Turtle Bay which was a highlight of the trip. While we were looking for turtles I was too busy looking at all the amazing fish in the water. Our snorkeling guide was great (sorry I don't remember his name!)

We ate like kings (sadly I did gain some holiday weight bc the food was just too yummy!) - the variety and quality of food was great. While I am not a big fan of buffets we never got bored with the selection. However I am a big fan of ethnic foods so loved the different cuisines they had every night. We also had dinner at Just Grill, which was lovely and nice to have a break from the buffet style meals. And Catherine, who worked at Just Grill, was so lovely and kind.

I can't say enough about the staff - everyone, and I mean literally everyone was super nice and genuinely made us feel welcomed. A few highlights though Chain and Tatang from the Courtyard, Catherine from Just Grill, Abdullah who had the very unfortunate chore of cleaning our room daily (everyday he had a smile on his face and asked how we were doing), and the guys at TGI Dive center who took extra care of my sons, making sure they were safe when we went out on excursions whether it was snorkeling or fun-tubing (they loved the guy who operated the jet ski for the fun-tube, affectionately calling him Captain Crazy...sorry I never got his name but he was so great to my sons). And I highly recommend fun-tubing but just be sure to hang on tight! And I also like to mention Shimul, who was so extra nice and kind to my sons, who went out of his way in making sure they were having a good time.

Oblu Select exceeded our expectations - everything from our room, to the beach, the food, the bar and entertainment, water activities and excursions and most importantly the staff who were quite possibly the nicest people I have ever encountered while on a vacation. They made our vacation very special. I hope to make a yearly trip to Oblu because it made such a lasting impression on me. Once you have found the perfect paradise, why bother with anything else?

The resort does not have room service, no restaurant which serves ala carte menu, you are restricted to resorts buffet menu, which is not good at times. Service is not the best.

One doesn't have the flexibility to have food at ones own time or where it choses; one has to go by resort timings and place where buffet is placed and one gets fed up with eating similar food every day. I am personally not a fan of buffets for all meals, as it restricts one to limited menu decided by the resort, which you don't want when you are on a luxury holiday and spending 1000 dollars a night.

We could not enjoy the room (we had a water villa) on the sunset side with a pool , so could not use it through the day, as the pool got a lot of strong sun during the day, making it uncomfortable to use the pool, so we ended up not using the villa pool at all. Further even otherwise given that there was no room service, you could not order anything to the villa (food or drinks) and had to travel to Sangs Bar every time for everything. Villa only has couple of beers and coke, if you don't drink that, you have no option but walk to the bar (200 to 600 mtrs) depending on where your room is.

Service is quite slow, reception does not answer, even at the Sangs bar, self service is the best option, else you would end up waiting for long.

Not all alcohol is available, we preferred JD, which they did not have and we had to do with Jim Bean!!

So overall for us it was an average experience, certainly not luxurious.
