We stayed at this beautiful hotel from 13th to 19th December and this was our very first trip to the Maldives. It was a special trip for me as we were celebrating my 40th Birthday. And this resort and its staff definitely did not disappoint! The arrival process was very smooth. Once we came through with our luggage, we were greeted by a member of staff who led us to the speedboat. I don't really like boats and get very nervous but there was absolutely no need. The boat is very new and the staff are extremely experienced and get you to the hotel safely. Once we arrived at the hotel, there was a group of staff including the General Manager Mr. Amaro to greet us with drums and little leaf necklaces for the children. I was too excited so did not film it. The check-in process was extremely smooth and you get a refreshment while you wait for the buggy to take you to your villa. We booked the Family Beach Suite with Pool which was absolutely stunning. It was the late afternoon when we arrived so we decided to have a quick swim before getting ready for dinner. We dined at The Courtyard Buffet Restaurant for all our meals. There was always a very good selection of local and international dishes available. A big thank you to all the wonderful chefs that worked so hard to ensure that we all gained a Kilogram or two during our stay ... ha ha!
I would also like to say a big thank you to Aboo, who looked after our villa and did the most amazing Birthday Greeting in the Room for me. It was a true masterpiece!
We spent all of our evenings at the Sangs Pool Bar! Thank you to Nishan and all the other amazing Bar Staff for ensuring that we were well looked after! A huge THANK YOU also goes to Yeni and her wonderful husband Enrique who kept us entertained with their wonderful voices and music ...... I haven't dance like that for a while! I requested a song from Yeni for my daughter ..... she found it and played it. The next evening she remembered us and played the song for my daughter again without us asking for it! Gracias!!!
We were not so lucky with the weather and had quite a lot of rain towards the end of our stay. The villa was equipped with umbrellas and raincoats so you don't have to get wet. Luckily, we managed to do a lot of snorkeling over the first few days and saw a turtle, sharks, lobsters, stingray, puffer fish and rainbow fish directly on the house reef by the beach. All the snorkeling equipment can be hired through the dive center and most of it is free of charge (unless you want a full face snorkel mask). We also got to do the Sunset Fishing Tour which was a lot of fun and we did the Open Sea Dive. We would have loved to do the trip to the local island but it started too early for our liking as we don't like getting up too early while on holiday.
Our children also went to the kids club a couple of times and enjoyed it very much.
All in all, we all had a fantastic time. The resort is so wonderful because of all the friendly and amazing staff that work there!! We enjoyed it so much that we are currently planning our next trip to this wonderful resort! See you soon Oblu Select at Sangeli!!!More
