Delighted with this clean airy cottage, well equipped and exceptionally clean. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners Andy and Sue. Great base for exploring the surrounding area, never used the car once. Whilst there are only a few local shops we found everything we needed.
We stayed for a week in Feb as a family of 3 plus a small dog. The cottage is in a quiet residential area close to woods/beach and countryside with all village amenities within walking distance. It is well-equipped with modern appliances and comfortably furnished. It suited us perfectly as we toured the area and visited friends. In our family it will always be known as the Winter Olympics cottage as (when not playing games or out with friends) we were warm and comfortable on cold, dark nights watching the events in South Korea! Great week and definitely somewhere we would go back to.
The cottage has two floors: upstairs are two beautiful bedrooms (with a double bed each) and a well kept, clean bathroom. Downstairs are the kitchen and the really cozy living room.
The cottage is very clean and very well equipped (especially the kitchen has everything one needs - beside a winding machine and a microwave, you even find an espresso maker there). Double plus: the living room has a big flatscreen where you can stream Netflix.
All in all we had very relaxed and comfortable stay in Andrew's cottage. Though we haven't met him in person (the key was in a safe), he took care of everything and prepared a guest book with all important information. Additonally I got his phone number and he answered quickly via mail, which I really appreciated.
Though the cottage is beautiful and the host is very reliable one has to be aware that Silverdale is a small village in the countryside. There are hardly any shops and the activities are limited. A car is indespensable!
Since the roads are very narrow, one has to drive slowly, therefore the way to the Lake District (Windermere) takes about 50 minutes.
Silverdale and its surrounding and especially Lake District are beautiful places, we recommend to visit.
We had a relaxing break at Sunnyside Cottage. The cottage is very well equipped; we stayed October/November and found it to be cosy and warm. We enjoyed the walk from the door over Arnside Knott and back. Plenty of dog friendly cafes in Arnside. The location is very convenient for the Lake District- there are useful maps and walking books in the cottage to help you plan your days out.
