“Bolimow and its green surroundings is a magical place”

Church of the Holy Trinity
Reviewed 21 April 2016

Bolimów (Poświętne) - parish church P.W. St. Trinity late Renaissance 1667, is an example of religious architecture in the sixteenth century., Which combines elements of Gothic forms and motifs of the Italian Renaissance.
The church is located north of the market in an area called Poświętne (the oldest district Bolimow) between the main course Rawka and its oxbow lake (on the island) in the neighborhood of stately, venerable elms; many of them considered monuments of nature !!
This church is often the object of numerous visits of tourists visiting Bolimow and his equally interesting surroundings, it is also a place to stop pilgrims from reaching Łowicza to the nearby Miedniewice - where you find the monastery with the image of St. Family miracles famous.
Wind history: January 31, 1915 year during the First World War battle took place in Bolimów in the district Skierniewice (also known as the Battle of the Rawka), during which the Russians fighting the German army for the first time have used chemical weapons.
The battle was applied xylyl bromide, whose battle name is "T-Stoff" or "Weisskreuz".
The tactics of this measure lies in the fact that the Germans fired at Russian missiles filled trenches that measure, the operation of which was similar to the action of tear gas. However, in view of bad weather conditions, specifically low-temperature air gun that did not work. January attack was not very effective because the gas did not work because it was minus 20 degrees. Anyway, The Hague does not want to be considered the first gas attack because it made him tear gas which was aimed only weaken the soldiers and not their killing. But surely this was the first massive attack made artillery fire, which this method is in the later stages of the war more effective than attacks waves. Here I correct, in April 1915, at Ypres not used mustard gas and chlorine. Mustard and called the use of Ypres in 1917 mustard gas. After Ypres in 1915 on May 31, 1915, the German 36 Sapper Battalion (Pioneers) used chlorine also in the area of Bolimow and Sochaczew. As a result of the use of chlorine killed a lot of Russian soldiers, after the change of weather conditions - wind direction is front of German soldiers was the injured party. The weapon he directed against his enemies russians turned out to be deadly for them !! When you are in nearby cities Skierniewice Sochaczew and Łowicz necessarily come unto forgotten and how very interesting in terms of historical and natural Bolimow is only 10-15 kilometers of road. Certainly not regret it and on the contrary there may rest your senses and rejuvenate the body. This place is a paradise historians, naturalists, ornithologists painters, sculptors and folk artists. .

Built in mid 17-th century this church is strangely located outside town of Bolimów. It stands on a place of wooden church dated back to 13-th century. Having a look inside is possible mainly during services or if you lucky. Furnishings dated mainly end of 17-th and early 18-th century, but most of it was made for other churches and later moved here.
