Pokeno Motel is just simply brilliant! Such friendly service, rooms are first class, beds so comfortable and love the massive shower water pressure! Parking for our pickup and trailer was just brilliant, this is our go to spot for the drags at Meremere...supermarket a short walk, everything you need close by without the large Auckland price tag, highly rate this place! I have stayed here many times both with Motorcycling New Zealand and private. Never once had problems with trucks in the truck park at stupid o'clock as one has posted. The various units I have stayed in have been both warm and very clean. The staff have been very good.
Meals in the restaurant are both plentiful and well priced again with great staff.
This motel is well placed for Auckland, Bay of Plenty and Waikato (Huntly and Hamilton) and to Hampton Downs.
We have stayed in a two bedroom , a one bedroom and a studio unit. Every time the room has been spotless. The rooms are very roomy with plenty of space. Some rooms have spa baths. They have a restaurant on the premises and countdown is just down the road (walk 5 mins). No, there isn't air conditioning but there is a ceiling fan and a wall heater which we have found sufficient each time we have stayed there, winter and summer. Plenty of parking which is perfect for the truck and trailer. Upstairs and downstairs rooms. Laundromat, liquor store, ice cream shops (x2) across the road.

If you love the smell of cow dung and sheep pis5 you’ll love it here, with stock trucks arriving at all hours crashing and banging through the dust bowl gravel pit that serves as truck parking. Then leaving at stupid o’clock waking you again.
Awful place and to think its in a residential street...

This motel is well placed before the last leg driving to Auckland, or just after coming over the Bombay Hills driving south. Staff are friendly in this newly built motel. There's a good restaurant serving hearty food alongside.
