You need to go on a cloudy day to enjoy this beach. From the car park, you would need to walk for about 500m including conquering a massive sand dune, before you finally enjoy the breathtaking view. Worth the climb though.

Families with small kids...you'll probably end up carrying them on your back. Sand was way too hot, but I would blame the scorching sun.

Nothing much around the car park apart from a poorly maintained (read stinking) public toilet and a few free campers.

There is a MASSIVE sand dune you must overcome before you reach the beach. For people who are unfit, this is a workout BUT once you reach the bottom, it is seriously worth it. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes. I was wearing sneakers and the sand was still burning my feet. Also, bring a spade to dig your hot water hole. The beach and black sand were so beautiful.

Gorgeous spot to explore but do wear shoes! The sand dune to get past is quite large and the black sand gets scorching...you can feel it burning through flip flops!! Once on the ocean side it s magnificent...have a swim in the surf(but beware of rips) and then find the right spot to dig your own hot pool.

The hill getting to the beach is very steep, it sucks. Once your over it tho you'll have the time of your life, relaxing in a hole you dug full of hot water.

This is a really gorgeous beach to watch the sun set on. The black sand is amazing fine and soft, compared to similar beaches in Hawaii. The sand dune is a bit of a tough hike, but the view is absolutely incredible. It's definitely worth the long drive.
