This is a really nice cafe, great food and friendly staff. Big choice in the cabinet, all delicious. Highly recommend.
We were staying in Havelock North recently for a short stay and on a lovely fine day decided to get some lunch to takeaway to have somewhere on our day’s travels.
We found this café and saw they had BLT’s in the cabinet. I asked for two BLT’s to take away, and we also got a drink each.
We stopped for lunch along Marine Parade in Napier, and opened up our sandwiches. We found a couple of problems with them.
Firstly, they were not BLT’s. They had NO tomato whatsoever in them.
Second problem was they each had a fried egg on top of the bacon.
Neither of us eat eggs, so we removed them and threw them to the birds. With just lettuce, bacon and mayonnaise it was not a memorable sandwich.
Did I mis-read the sign in the cabinet? I am fairly sure that I didn’t mis-read it (and after all, who has ever heard of a “BLE” sandwich???)
But if so, I very clearly asked for BLT’s, not BLE’s. My voice is not quiet so I don’t understand how I could have been mis-heard.
Six days ago I messaged the café to ask about it, but despite them reading it very soon after I sent it, I have not had the courtesy of a reply.
I would most definitely not return here.
At E's cafe is becoming a favorite. It is quaint and quiet, which is such a rare thing these days. The service personal and very friendly. And are you a dumpling lover do try their pork dumplings. These are fried dumplings and the filling is flavoursome and very authentic. The serving is generous and very satisfying.
I can't wait for my next visit
Good coffee. Good if you want a take-away as you don't have to go into the cafe - although you then miss out on seeing the good food. Although sometimes it is good not to be tempted.
