We treated ourselves to a night here to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It was absolutely brilliant - beautiful setting, wonderful staff, delicious food and wine. We stayed in the Macron Room which was excellent - beautiful and spacious. Although we only stayed one night we felt relaxed and refreshed leaving the next day. Would highly recommend.

We attended a Jazz lunch set meal at the Mangapapa Hotel during the Napier Art Deco Festival recently on Thursday 20th February.
It was one of the most disappointing events we have been to. There was light non jazz music being played by a piano and guitar on arrival, this quickly moved to another room to that which we were dining where we could not hear it, and finished about half way through the meal.
Meal service was unprofessional at best, all the dishes varied in size, layout, different plates and one of our party of 4 was missed out on the desert and was eventually served ice cream that was already melting on a slate! Do we not have coffees at the hotel; they were not served to us?
This is not an event that I can recommend is attended, though the food was reasonable, hence 2 star and not 1

Dear Mitchell,

Thank you for attending the Art Deco event and taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We are disappointed that we were unable to live up to your expectations for the event. The lunch included bubbles upon arrival and a three course lunch with wine pairing, however any coffee purchases were additional. Next time we will ensure this is communicated better to attendees. Our customers and service are always our top priority and we welcome the opportunity to learn from our mistakes. We really do hope you’ll come back so we can show you why we are a five star property.

Best Wishes, The Mangapapa Team

The Mangapapa Hotel had been recommended to us by our golf travel agent. To be honest I wasn’t sure as we pulled up. That was a mistake! From the moment we were greeted and taken care of at the door, we felt welcome and special.

We had dinner at the hotel and decided on the 3 course meal. It was one of the best meals we have ever had. From the lamb to the sorbet to the fish elegantly prepare it was delicious. I had asked if it was possible for something chocolate for dessert the day before. Not only did we have a delicious chocolate dessert but they included an apple trim and ice cream to accessorize.

It is a special place and one that we will treasure.

We spent 2 glorious nights at the Hotel Mangapapa in North Havelock, NZ. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. Our suite, The Macon, was gorgeous & very spacious. The staff were amazing- very attentive & friendly. The food was incredible. We had the 3 course meal on both nights. The dinners were the best meals we have had in NZ to date. The hotel’s Chef creates a new menu daily. She is clearly passionate about food. She is also incredibly talented & creative. Much of the produce comes from the Hotel’s on site garden. Our stay included breakfast -both a continental & a hot made to order selection. The breakfasts were also delicious & creative. The setting of the hotel is serene & rural yet it is only a few minutes drive from Napier. The Hotel is also a winery & has, in addition to a generous wine cellar, it’s own estate made wines. We tried three of them. They were all outstanding. We’ll be back.

Dear Niggle69,

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback. We, as a team, are very disappointed that we have not lived up to your expectations for your stay as you can see from previous reviews, is not our usual standard.

The rooms in Lady Watties building have been renovated and we won best renovated accommodation in 2016 for this renovation so we were surprised to read you felt the room was old and tired as we do monthly audits of the rooms and Rob Roy has also recently been freshly painted in our winter shutdown. However we would like to know more details of the aspects of this so if you could contact us directly we would really appreciate it as we are always looking for ways to improve.

We do apologise for the shampoo bottle being sticky on check-in, as part of our environmental policy to eliminate as much single plastic use in the hotel as possible, we recycle the bottles when guests do not take them away so that we are not throwing out plastic. I have picked this up with housekeeping along with your comments on cleanliness in the room and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We have very high standards for our rooms, servicing them twice a day so we apologise that your room was not to that standard.

We also offer a range of pillows in the hotel as everyone has different preferences so had we known that you did not find your room pillows comfortable, we would have happily remedied this for you.

It is great to read that you found our food service and team amazing and that we provided a great service. We hope to see you return to the hotel so we can offer a better experience and please if you do so, do not hesitate to make the team aware of your concerns with any room as we would prefer to have the opportunity to remedy the situation whilst you are staying here and get the feedback so we can resolve any issues to ensure your stay with us is the best it can be whilst you are with us. Our team are always on hand to help and listen to feedback and want to make sure you have the best experience at Mangapapa.

Thank you again

Kind regards,
The Mangapapa Team
