Mali certainly adopts the “we’re number one, so why try harder” approach to staff training.
Food was very good and well presented but the staff…
There were three of us and two of us ordered entrees; one did not. Those that had the entrees were very complementary of the food. But the mains were taking an age… the restaurant was busy but not full…
The person that did not have an entree had a side plate that was not cleared when the entree plates were cleared… so it just sat there unremarked and unloved.
Upon enquiry, and a rather abrupt response from the maître’d, it transpired that the main were not started because the entree plates had not been cleared. The culprit bring the unregarded and unloved side plate sitting before me.
The side plate was cleared and the mains duly arrived… but the whole approach of the staff was unnecessary and unpleasant.
If an establishment wants to be number 1 then it has to be the best across all aspects, and the most important is the professionalism of the staff. No matter how good the food is, poor staff will ruin the experience every time.
