Brief But Pleasant Stay

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 Jul 2024via mobile
Drove to Toronto on the way to Niagara Falls in the summer. Booked the hotel through American Express's Fine Hotel and Resorts program. When we arrived, there was a hiccup. It appeared that I had stupidly made a mistake about the date of our arrival day.. So we essentially had no reservation until the next day. Oops.

The hotel clerk patiently waited until I had contacted Amex and explained what had happened.

Got the issue with the reservation resolved and finally got to checking in.

The hotel itself…. Pretty nice in that international luxury hotel manner, if you know what I mean. Lots of nice artwork in the lobby . Rooms, lots of dark wood and marble. Decent sized bathroom. Nice labeled lighting controls. There was one place I stayed at recently with centralized lighting controls that were a pain to figure out. Partially obstructed view of the CN Tower and a power/utility plant. Booked through FH&R and received a credit for breakfast. We had 2 rooms and 3 people, so that was pretty adequate for us.

Overall, a pretty pleasant experience. Liked how we were treated when I discovered I made a mistake in my reservation dates. Would stay here again.

Had such an amazing experience at the Shangri-La Toronto. The hotel and room was spectacular, I honestly cannot fault anything! The staff were amazing, food was exactly what I expected from a 5 star hotel. The ambiance of the Lobby Lounge was unbelievable. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely hotel however the fish in the floor of reception are obviously not happy and frightened as they spent all of the time in our stay huddled together in both ends where there was some shade - to be honest my colleague and I put it down to cruelty

This is a true 5 star hotel. They include a credit for a 2 person breakfast daily that can be used in their restaurant or with room service. The room service can be ordered from your phone by scanning a qr code on their in room menu and ordered the night before for a predesired time. They also gift you complimentary boxed waters and comb and hair tie. They care for your comfort.

They have a wonderful afternoon tea that changes themes regularly. Lovely lounge area with great drinks and they include some wonderful almonds and spicy cheese crackers.

The beds are very comfortable and the rooms so spacious and lovely.

Service is the key here. Friendly faces and answers to every question and apologetic if you experience something you dislike. They genuinely want you to enjoy your experience.

The spa wasnt my favorite but the staff are super nice. The water circuit is the hotel pool which is an inconvenience for spa guests and hotel guests. The pool is beautiful and the hottub spaceous and hot but hard to breathe in the area from heat and chemicals. It closes to kids at 7 or 8 pm yet kids must share with spa adults all day. The weightroom nice and has all the equipment but could use some heavier free weights.

Room 604 for the win. Could see the CN tower from between our bathroom mirrors and had a private patio. Were gifted a beautiful birthday dessert in our room for our birthday celebration as well as the room upgrade. Nice working hotel elevators and quick.

Easy to get an uber or car. Two grocery stores directly across from the front door. Brought door dashed items right to our door for us. There are doorbells for your room and service lights. Also, they have pillow menus online in their Circle app and they have a bath menu for their bathtub. Just fun and wonderful.

No one in our party wanted to leave.

Room tip: Loved room 604. Try an afternoon tea for something fun to do at the hotel. Maybe bring a sound machine because early nights can be loud.

Amazingly helpful staff, from the doormen to the Front Desk and the Dining outlets. Plus a very efficient and courteous Concierge (Dean?) who can book you at the best places.

The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, and the bathroom is the best I've seen in Toronto (certainly much better than Fairmont).

The location is within easy reach of most points downtown too.

What a gorgeous hotel! The room was beautiful, with a fantastic view of downtown Toronto, including the CNtower. It’s especially beautiful at night, with all of the city lights aglow. The pool and hot tub area is big and nice, there’s a steam room in the change rooms and the showers are stocked with high quality products. The lobby/lounge offers live music and a lovely seating area. The staff are great and more than helpful. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a night of luxury!
