a one night stay during vineyard visits

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Jul 2022via mobile
we had a night stay at the riverbend inn and enjoyed the room we had, deluxe room (210) with a king bed. it was nice to have a door opening onto a juliette balcony over looking the peller estate vineyard and the comfortable king bed. the room is well appointed with lavazza coffee maker and a few bottles of local wine available (extra charge) on a table. the bathroom was large and the toiletries were a nice bonus as well. we had an electric fireplace (not used and couldn't figure how to use it, but i'm sure its in the room booklet)...the restaurant was very good for dinner and enjoyed a course meal (2 or 3 is offered for a set price), again...very good. we also enjoyed an evening having wine on the patio sitting in the adirondack chairs available overlooking pellar estates.

one issue that can be focused on is the juliette wood balcony...needs to be cleaned of tree debris and the screws screwed back in...bit uncomfortable when you step on one....other than that?, very nice stay

My wife and I spent 2 nights here. Location is superb - 2 mins from riverside walk to Niagara on the Lake (walk takes about 20 mins) and 20 mins drive to the Falls. Beautiful building in idyllic wine country. Room was fine but a bit old fashioned. Problem is food offer - no breakfast and dinner reservations impossible or at ridiculous times. Staffing issues, understandable in current times. We did get help from one person who told us about the free wine tasting for guests and best time to visit the Falls. This place could be incredible but needs a refurb and to offer breakfast to guests.

We enjoyed two very pleasant evenings at the Riverbend Inn. Our room "Sauvignon Blanc" was very spacious, well-appointed, and clean. The two queen beds were comfortable, and we slept well. The bathtub was deep, the water pressure excellent, and the temperature hot, allowing for a veritable soak every night, with clean and fluffy towels a-plenty. We partook of the complimentary wine in the afternoon and coffee and muffins in the morning. We sat in the Adirondack chairs overlooking the vineyard under a blue sky in the morning and used the cement table and benches for a picnic lunch. We walked the waterfront trail to downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake and back, learning later that we could have ridden bicycles available to patrons. As we hadn’t booked the Riverbend Inn restaurant in time, we booked a table at Treadwell Cuisine, where we had a fabulous. We understand that a staff shortage affects the tourist industry. Most of the Riverbend staff members we met were friendly, courteous, and helpful. One took us in a golf cart type conveyance for a tasting at nearby Peller Vineyard, and back to retrieve a key that had slipped out of my pocket there. We chatted with a couple who happily return for their annual stay at the Riverbend Inn. If it weren’t so far from California, we might consider such a tradition.

I have to give it five stars because of the gorgeous location and ambience, the charming and friendly staff and great views over the vineyard. Our room (321) was huge with attractive old fashioned furnishings, lots of wine and an espresso machine. But there are some downsides. The main one is breakfast, or lack thereof. Surely in a hotel of this class you expect a proper breakfast. Instead, starting at 8 there is coffee and pastries available in the lobby which you can take back to your room, sit in the lobby or sit on the patio if the weather is nice. The pastries consisted of very ordinary muffins not quite as good as you get at Tim Horton’s. At least you do not pay extra for it. They have brunch starting at ten, with an á-la-carte menu, but that is too late for most people, including us. We drove five minutes into town and had an excellent breakfast at Sunset Grill, but this should not be necessary.
The Oaklands restaurant is beautiful and outstanding (separate review) and they provide a free shuttle over to the Peller Estates winery where there is an equally outstanding restaurant.
The other issue is no elevator, so if you have difficulty with stairs make sure you book a ground floor room.
Overall the good outweighs the bad and we hope to be back.

Room tip: Ground floor if you have trouble with lots of stairs

We spent two days here exploring the Niagara on the lake wineries. The room is comfortable but what really makes this place stand out is the staff. We were here in November of 2021 and again the staff makes such an effort. This time we had dinner in the on-site restaurant and the food and Rebecca were amazing. Definitely if you are in the area stay here a day or a couple of days and you won’t be disappointed.

We spent only one night at this hotel but we really enjoyed it. Our room was spacious, with a king bed (comfy mattress) and fireplace. While the furniture is extremely ornate - maybe a little too ornate - we had a nice view and a balcony to enjoy. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a 3 minute drive but it's a busy little place so we were glad we were staying close but not in it. The complimentary continental breakfast was a surprise, and it was not the usual continental. Lots of walking trails closeby. We will definitely stay here again.
