It’s getting harder for me to think that this site is a fit for me anymore….. Despite the poor reviews I have been seeing….So I am trying to write a honest review with details so you know what I love in a hotel which basically is a welcoming, clean hotel with soft beds and some attention to the little things. I like to feel higher quality. This hotel is wonderful. Yes, it is very old but it is very clean and has so much character. It did not feel or smell old to me at all. The staff here are wonderful. Very rarely these days do I visit a hotel and every single staff member is friendly, and seem so sincerely happy that you are there. They are even happier to help with anything and they are quick to. Hazel especially went above and beyond helping either anything we needed. I had breakfast at the restaurant which I found was also great. The first day I had their traditional breakfast and it was delicious. The coffee in the entire hotel is delicious. I was on a conference. The second day I had pancakes. They were not light and fluffy. The batter was a bit rubbery and bland but with lots of syrup its was good. I stayed in room 19. It was spacious, very comfortable and clean. It had a mini fridge that worked very well. Nice and cold water for a change but the fridge was a bit noisy when the fan came on. I am a light sleeper nowadays so I found the rooms a bit crickety with sounds. I seen some of my colleague’s rooms and some were smaller but all just as nice. Although coincidently a few of us didn’t sleep well but it was the older people, and I know I am now not the greatest sleeper in hotels unless I stay at a Marriott with their soft beds and quiet. They provide bathrobes, liquid hand soap (my favourite), body wash, shampoo, conditioner and a shower cap. Also they provided water at no charge. All high quality toiletries and I am very fussy with products. No body lotion. The location is fabulous too. I have stayed at all the Vintage properties in the area. I will never stay at any of them again after staying here. Although, the spa was closed but looked very small, but nice. Also, I did not see their outdoor pool area. It is off season at the hotel so the services like spa, lunch or dinner were not open Mon- Wed the days that I was there, I do not think. We ordered in lunch both days and Hazel was quick to offer to pick it up and allow up to use the restaurant area. This was even more perfect if you’re on a work conference because hotel food sometimes gets boring.
