STAYHOME BEFORE GOING TO STAYBRIDGE

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Oct 2024
MY family and I were expecting to have a nice wedding at a family wedding and we chose Staybridge. its not even close to niagara on the lake but charging huge $900 price for 2 nights! In any event upon checking in my wife lifted the toilet seat and there was a dirty condom in plain view! To make a long story short I ended up dealing with the general manager John Crescenzi and he would do absolutely nothing for us. The general manager didn't even listen to our concerns all he wanted to do was check with staff to see that they acted appropriately but made every excuse in the book. They wouldn't give us a discount and there was cockroaches in the lobby and near the breakfast area! Stay home you'll have a better time. Worst weekend we've spent and we are an elderly couple traveling for 50 years! AVOID at all costs

Responded 17 Oct 2024
Your review was received Happiness309528 and we appreciate this opportunity to respond accordingly.
You made a reservation in mid September for a two day stay in October. When booking at this later date, you did receive a price that was higher than your friends/family members who made their reservations in early August for the same dates. This is quite common across the hotel industry (and several other industries ie. Airlines), where pricing is based on the current demand at the time of booking. We understand that you were not happy that you had to pay a higher price, however we did charge the correct price, as originally reserved and shown on your registration document. Shortly after you checked in, you called down to suggest that a condom was found in your toilet. We immediately offered to change you and your family to another guestroom (within 20 minutes of your arrival), which you had refused, indicating that you had already unpacked and that it would be very inconvenient. Our Housekeeping Manager and an associate then visited your guestroom to properly clean/sanitize your toilet, not having seen this condom which you had indicated had already been flushed down the toilet. We then let you know that this was a very strange occurence, which we have not experienced before.
Your reservation was not for $900, as suggested, and contrary to your comment, you were given a sizable adjustment to your bill on the day of your departure. Unfortunately, you would only settle for a full credit for the charges incurred over your two day stay, which we have refused to provide.
Your various correspondences have been received, including this review, and have been retained on file. We understand and accept that you will be persistent in your effort to receive a full credit for your stay at any cost and we are doing what is necessary to deal with the matter appropriately from our end.
For the sake of the general public who may be reading this review..... our team works hard to provide a clean, comfortable, safe and enjoyable stay for all our guests. Reviews on this site, and many others, confirm that we are delivering on those efforts and are being recognized accordingly. Hotel pricing is most certainly based on the current demand at the time of booking and we strongly recommend booking as far in advance as possible to obtain the best possible price for your stay. The inclusion of breakfast, parking and WiFi at our hotel, as well as the fact that we don't charge any optional taxes or fees (ie. Resort fees/convenience fees/facility fees), as are common in many Niagara area hotels, ensures that travel budgets can remain in line accordingly. Our hotel is located in the Glendale district of Niagara-on-the-Lake, adjacent to the QEW highway, and only a couple minutes from the Outlet Collection at Niagara Shopping centre. If you are looking to stay in the historic district of Niagara-on-the-Lake, it is approx. 12-15 minutes away by car. Finally, as if it needs to be said, we have never seen a cockroach in our lobby or breakfast areas, and we hope you will put your trust in us to provide a great stay for you and the family.

This is the third (others Largo, MD and Tech Center, CO) Staybridge Hotel we've stayed at in the last year-and-a-half. It was the best of the three. The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If we needed towels, they had them in minutes.

The hotel is about 10-15 minutes from the Falls, so it was easy to get to. There's plenty of places to shop within 10 minutes.

The only downside as compared to the States is you have to pay for laundry. They were able to exchange US for CAD at the desk and explained the different coins.

The breakfasts were the same as the other two in the states except every third day they had baked beans. This was the first time we took part in the Monday-Wednesday tapas. One day they had poutine which I'm guessing they wouldn't have in the states.

What a great hotel, we loved our suite! It was beautifully decorated with a fully stocked kitchen (cooktop burners only for stove), full fridge, dishwasher and coffee maker. We loved the Dove amenities in the shower too, these were great. Lots of outlets and usb plugs, two tv’s, one king and pull out couch.

Perfect location, right beside Niagara shopping outlets which has great deals at some of the outlet stores.

We walked next door to the Hilton restaurant for dinner which had good food (with kids menu) and a little sports bar area where the hockey game was on.

Breakfast was included and was really good!

We had a nice swim (open till 11pm); we did notice that the pool deck needs a good scrub. It may be because the door was open onto the mini putt/fire pit area so may let unnecessary dust in.

Thank you for having us; we will definitely return!

Robin and Desiree at the front desk were the absolute sweetest. When our reservation for the eclipse ended up cancelled by Expedia, Robin went above and beyond to find us another room at the best possible rate (difficult given it was days before the eclipse). All of the staff working here are an absolute delight and really make the place. A great little spot. Thank you all for a wonderful stay!

We loved everything about the hotel and our stay. We have stayed at 10 hotels in the Niagara area and this one is the best in terms of overall value. It is rare to have free parking, free breakfast, a full kitchen, pool and a very quiet hotel at such a price in the Niagara area. It's about a 15 minute drive from Clifton Hills and the Falls, but totally worth it. It's very close to the outlet mall which you can see out the window, depending on your room's view.

The manager John was very attentive and I emailed him the night before our stay regarding ingredients in one of their breakfast items. When I woke up there was a response with a photo of the ingredients. Just an FYI to anyone out there, the mix used in their waffle maker is eggless! Pretty cool!

When we arrived John was in the lobby removing Christmas decorations. That shows that even as a manager he seems very hands on. He remembered my email and my name. He greeted my daughters and did a magic trick for them. He struck up a conversation with our family as well. He was very personable and we thoroughly felt right at home talking to him.

My husband spoke to Robin over the phone about an early check-in and she was such a pleasure to speak to and we met her when we checked in. She provided us with so much information about things around town (in particular skating) for little kids. She even looked up information on her phone to assist us. She was very professional and had a warm and caring attitude. Paige worked at the front desk in the evening and assisted us with board games for our kids. Thanks to the options, our little kids played Scrabble for the first time! All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and approachable.

The property was very well maintained and felt very nice and new. We didn't wait more than 2 minutes for an elevator.

Our kids enjoyed being in the pool. They love to swim. We stayed for 1 night and used the pool for roughly 1 hour each day. We were literally the only people in the pool on both days. We saw staff come in to replenish a d remove towels.

About the rooms, we loved the layout nd my husband said I could live here for a few days. Everything was clean and the things in the room were well spaced out. You could see that a lot of planning went into setting up the rooms.

The breakfast was fantastic with a lot of options. We're vegetarian and don't eat eggs and there were tons of options. Bread (gluten free available upon request - how nice is that for those that need it!), bagels, fresh fruit, oatmeal, and other typical things. As mentioned above the waffle mix is eggless. The coffee actually tasted very good. I believe they even had soy or oat milk as well. It was really a great breakfast and it was complimentary. There was also an evening reception, with a few options and nothing too fresh, but we did have some nice beverages. the fact that the rooms have full kitchens meant we brought fresh foods to much on anyway.

There was ample parking (free) at the hotel and we could even see our car out the window which I liked.

We had numerous devices connected to the WiFi and the connection was fantastic.

My husband kept saying, you made a good choice picking this place. We frequent the Niagara area and this will now be our hotel of choice (if we don't need a water Park). It was a perfect getaway that our family needed.

Kudos to the hotel staff for taking such care of every detail! We have recommended the place to others as well. Yes, you need to drive to the falls, but it's not that far at all. We hope Stay bridge expands in Canada. Thanks again.
