Rather disappointing. According to the description on the Choice Hotels website, this hotel is 0.19 miles from the falls. 0.19 miles is equal to about 1,000 feet. Unless I am a crow sitting on the roof of the hotel and able to fly directly to the falls, there is no way this measurement is correct. And even then, that’s a stretch. Another disappointment was the fact that I was charged $20 a day to park my car. I do admit that I missed this in the very fine print on the Choice One site, as I didn’t scroll all the way down to the bottom and read every detail, so I was a bit taken by surprise when they told me at check in I would be charged $20 + tax and fees PER DAY! to park my car in the hotel’s own private lot, even though I had prepaid for the room before I got there. Talk about highway robbery. As a Choice Privileges Rewards member, you would think that this would be one of the perks of the program. We chose this property, even though it was slightly more expensive than a few others listed because of the fact that it was supposedly so close to the falls, but had I realized where it really was and the fact that they were going to charge me even more on top of what I already paid, I would have picked a different property. I was a bit leery that it only had a 3.3 star rating, but now I understand why. You can’t even see the falls from the building.
The room was clean, but alas, it is another property that is doing away with carpeting in the guest rooms and going with laminate floors. I think that is so cold and just dislike it. There was no luggage rack on which to set our suitcase and I either had to set in on the desk, the dresser in front of the television or the floor.
Do yourself a favor and just find a different property to stay at if you’re looking for something close to the falls and if you stay here, don’t forget to add in the additional parking fee per day into your budget.
