Perfect place to stay for a Falls visit (10mn walk)

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 7 Sept 2024via mobile
The hotel is just 10mn walk from the Falls. Big parking lot (CAD 20.-), nice breakfast (sausage, egg, make your own waffles, 3 different sorts of mini butter tarts, perfect to try it), free cookies at reception. Our room was a suit, with a big living room, with a big couch, 2 tvs, a fridge and a microwaves.

We had booked 2 rooms here. Traveling with our family from our of town and our baby. We arrived to learn the GM (Ian) had just cancelled our reservation without notifying or communicating with us. There is no record of Ian trying to send a message via Hotels.com or email or text.

Then we're told they are sold out and they could do nothing for us. It seems as though this manager had better offers for the rooms and took it upon himself to cancel our rooms to offer them at higher prices to others.

We travel all over the world and I have never ever had a hotel just cancel a reservation, that too without trying to contact us first and notifying us. We will never be staying at Radisson property again. I asked for a contact to reach Radisson customer service and the hotel staff refused to give me a contact.

There are lots of good points in this hotel.

The location is really good, just 10-15 minutes walk down to the falls, and near to Clifton Hill for those who want a bit more of a carnival experience.

We had 2 king suites, both were spotlessly clean, and well prepared. The beds were very comfortable, and the fixtures were ok.

Check-in was a bit long-winded … they really just need to get literature printed, and put into rooms that explains all about the hotel / location /breakfast etc, rather than explain to people individually.

Breakfast was basic, it was ok, but basic. Paper bowls, and paper plates detract, and the dining room staff could do a better job of keeping the place clean. That said, the food that was there was absolutely fine.

Air-con was a bit noisy, but manageable.

I think the place just needs a bit of a refurb, the rooms could be so much better with nicer decor, and upgraded TV, pots of milk instead of white powder for your coffee.

Back in the UK this would be a solid 3 star.

Hotel closed and didn’t inform us, found out 3rd party so thank goodness we didn’t just turn up to a closed hotel. This was 3 weeks before our check in date so now have the hassle of finding somewhere else’s to stay. An email with an explanation would have been nice

The location and price can’t be beat. You can walk to Niagara Falls and all of the attractions. The lobby was nicely updated, check-in was easy.

The rooms are very basic… no decor at all, zero. The room felt a little run down and could use some updating, decor, etc. It’s not a hotel room that you’d want to just chill and hang out in (which was totally fine for us because we were busy doing falls things!). The pillows were nice, the bed was incredibly hard and uncomfortable. The room was clean, but had some spots that were kind of yucky (corners of bathroom, tub) due to age and in need of a deeper cleaning.

Breakfast was the basic free hotel breakfast, it was fine. Be aware when the hotel is crowded, it is very hard to find a place to sit for breakfast.

You do have to pay extra for parking at the hotel. But, it was fine because you can walk everywhere so you aren’t paying for parking near the falls and attractions.

The location of this hotel, the price, and it’s a good place to sleep at night is what makes it a great hotel to stay at in Niagara. If we come back, we will stay here again.

I had very high hopes because of all the great reviews.

Pros: really close to Clifton Hill and the Falls, Breakfast Included, Staff was nice enough

Cons: beds were top 3 worst beds I’ve ever had at a hotel. My back and my husband’s back are killing us now. Pokey coils and creaking, I didn’t sleep well at all and was up every 2 hours with numb arms or insane neck/back pain. Food, while included was not at all what I was expecting based on reviews. Not much choice and some pale apples and tiny bananas were all that was offered for fruit. Some cheese would have been nice, even frozen fruit for the waffles.. something. Not what I thought. Rooms were quite dated and our bathroom shower was pretty gross (rust and tub looked filthy). $20 a night for parking was expensive. The pool… ok so I thought there was a hot tub? But the pictures must be old and the pool was pretty old and rough in condition. Not great. I won’t stay again and was pretty let down by the other reviewer’s recommendation because this hotel should be a 3/5 TOPS .. if the mattress had been better or rooms in better shape I’d up the score but 2/5 is about as best as I can go. Not impressed and disappointed with overall quality for cost.
