Met Most Expectations

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Jul 2024via mobile
During our visit, this hotel met most of our expectations.

Friendly service- front desk and restaurant staff. Responded quickly to questions on chat app. Provided recommendations for transportation to and from hotel.

Convenient- location is walking distance to main attractions. Restaurant on site that provided pick up, room service and grab & go (not open late). Four elevators were working abd reasonbly quick. (ATM not working to get currency exchange money for tips).

Room- has the usual toiletries and amenities including refrigerator. (Does not have a microwave). Large flatscreen TV (often cumbersome to work) Good view from 17th floor of American Falls, Clifton Hill and Tower from distance. Able to see nightly fireworks. (Room was not clean upon arrival which seems to be a consistent occurrence with Hilton hotels these days- so we did our usual spray and wipe down).

Overall, it was a good experience
compared to others and I would recommend and stay here again.
Date of stay: July 2024
Room Tip: Get high floor for view. Do currency exchange before arrival.

Rooms are reasonably recently updated
Location is really good, price is very reasonable for closeness to the falls
Would definitely recommend to folks visiting the Falls for a couple days
High floors get a small look at the falls and a decent view of nighttime fireworks. 3rd and 4th floors suites are good rooms to have

Room tip: 3rd or 4th floor suites are good rooms at a little premium price over regular rooms

We had a wonderful stay here for our first trip to the falls. First of all- the chocolate chip cookies! So delicious! The room was clean and comfortable, as was the bed and pillows. Very nice clean bathroom too. We ate a breakfast and dinner in the Buchanan Room restaurant and were pleasantly delighted with the taste and quality of the food. This is not usually the case in hotel restaurants in our experience. Wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was delicious and reasonably priced we thought. The front desk ladies were especially kind to us. Sukh and Vishakha became our friends as they helped us with navigating the bus system (and always ready with a cookie!). They are very valuable employees and made our stay even better. Would definitely recommend this hotel for your stay at Niagara Falls area.

We stayed at the Doubletree for one night recently while visiting the falls, as a family of 4.

Our room on level 12 looked towards the Niagara river and we could see across to USA. It didn’t have a view of the falls (but we didn’t book a Fallsview room). The room was very comfortable and well equipped.

The hotel is an older property but is well presented and had a coffee maker and big tv in the room. Parking was available at $25/night. We used the swimming pool and hot tub and these were a good place to relax after a long drive.

The hotel is walking distance to the falls, Clifton Hill and the major restaurant districts. There is a bar on the entry level but it appeared dull and largely empty during our stay.

Downsides- while at other Hilton properties in Canada I can check in online and get the room key without needing to go to the front desk, at this hotel I needed to go to the front desk where it took some time to get checked in. I had already selected a room on the app so I don’t know why this step was needed, compared to properties in Toronto.

The Wifi in the room was patchy and made it hard to do basic things online (and impossible to do FaceTime calls without interruption).

This hotel is a good quality hotel in a reasonable location which I would happily recommend for a short stay.

This is one of the more expensive hotels we have stayed at, yet the room was missing a lot basic things you could find in even motels. There were no water bottles, and no place to even fill water. There were not nearly enough coffee supplies. The WiFi is atrocious. And the crowning jewel, there was no microwave in the room. The only microwave for the guests the one that is in the lobby. The room was clean and the ac worked were the only good points.

Johnny, we appreciate you sharing your stay experience. We are sad to hear you did not enjoy your stay with us. All room amenities are to the brand standard. We do offer a water fill station on our lower lobby for our guest and all other room amenities can be requested if more is needed.

Overall, we had a good experience here. We paid extra for a good view, and it was worth it! We could see the falls and river from our room--including the fireworks at night. Unfortunately, we could also see the multitude of ugly parking lots that surrounded the hotel (not the hotel's fault, but something travelers should be prepared to see a lot of in this town). The beds were comfortable. The pull-out couch was awful, both as a bed and a couch, so keep that in mind if you're planning for someone to sleep on it. The room was quite dated, but clean. Breakfast isn't free, but it was reasonably priced for a hotel restaurant, and the food was very good. Portions were huge, so if you eat a normal amount of food for an adult, I recommend ordering 1 dish and sharing. The pool was FREEZING!!! After seeing the inviting indoor pool on the website, I was excited to take my kids to it, but we barely stepped our feet into it, and we decided to go back to our room. If you like a room above 65 degrees F, this is not the pool for you. It wasn't just us--I saw multiple other people try the pool and immediately retreat because it was so cold. Would be great if the hotel could heat the pool to a comfortable temp. The location was pretty good--we knew we wouldn't be directly on top of the falls, so we were prepared to walk to restaurants and the falls, and the walk wasn't bad at all--mostly flat and easy to navigate. Staff was friendly.

Room tip: Don't count on swimming unless you like a polar plunge. Pull out the shower knob to turn it on (this stumped us for 5 min).
