The Parkway Motel is about 10 minutes from the falls, and this allows it to be much, much less expensive than staying in the immediate area. This is a small, older motel that was bought about six years ago and has been lovingly and carefully restored. It's a good mom-and-pop outfit run by a charming family who are very serious about hospitality.
They will shuttle you to the Canadian side of the falls at no charge. The breakfast room has been recently remodeled; the selection does not include meat or eggs but is otherwise decent. There is an excellent local restaurant across the street. WIFI is free and the signal is strong; they have several routers, and not all are obviously connected with the motel, so you may need to call the front desk about names and passwords to get the strongest signal in your room.
My only quibble is that the air conditioner blows across the table where I used my laptop at head level, but it wasn't too bad.
I'd stay here again without hesitation. This is not a fancy motel at all, but it's a superb value, and the owners are extremely pleasant to deal with.
