When we decided to visit Niagara Falls on a Saturday night on short notice, we were looking for a location near Clifton Hill that would be comfortable enough to stay in for one night without breaking the bank. Many hotels were four hundred dollars or more and the Choice Inn was half that price. I recommend, if you intend to book, booking directly through their website which, in our case, offered a significant discount from the aggregator sites, including this one.
On the positive side, this establishment had a clean room that smelled like disinfectant on arrival. The rooms have plenty of space. The pool, which we did not use, appeared crystal clear. The towels appeared freshly replaced. Parking was free, which was tantamount to an additional $20 savings. Clifton Hill is right there.
On the negative side, although apparently recently renovated, the rooms are still somewhat in an old style. Our bathtub was blue. The rooms are not particularly quiet, and despite being on the top floor, we awoke a few times from noise. It was also common to walk by people sitting outside their rooms smoking, which is their right and certainly better than in room smoking, but isn't appealing to us.
I may have given 4 or 5 stars on value alone, but on checkin, I was asked to pay an additional 10 dollars for the third member of our party (our daughter) who was clearly mentioned in our online reservation. When confronted with the booking confirmation, the clerk said it was because she thought it was a third adult and not a child. But when I went to the room, online it would have been 5 and not 10 dollars more even if our third had been an adult. In summary, make sure you know how much your reservation is for when checking in. That was a minor issue but not one I particularly liked having to deal with.
