Old hotel

We were placed in room 407, it is an older hotel but we didn’t realize this old. Wall paper behind the tv was peeling off, the bathroom ceiling peeling, grout in the shower gone as well as on the jetted tub. It was more like a motel than a hotel, unfortunately we won’t go back unless they redue to rooms to have them updated and not falling apart

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Niagara Fallsview June 28-30 2024. As a Platinum IHG Rewards member, I always look for IHG Hotels in the location that I’m travelling. This hotel had a good location close to Clifton Hill and the Falls.

The checkin location (2nd floor) is not very accessible when you are first arriving. The front of the hotel is close to the street and doesn’t have a space for you to park while checking in. It was only after checking in that you find there is a few spaces available for check in, behind the front of the hotel at the entrance to a public / casino / hotel parking garage.

We let the hotel know when checking in that we have an oversized vehicle (pickup truck with a 1” lift) that would not fit in the public / casino / hotel parking garage. We were instructed to park in the oversize parking behind the hotel off to the right. Once we parked (signs for “bus” parking) we quickly realized that this was not located in a secure/ covered parking garage like the standard parking was. It was just a few random spots off to the back side of the hotel near the street. We enquired at the front desk as to the parking rate, as the hotel was charging us for the secure / gated / covered standard parking in the casino / pay Luc : hotel parking garage, even though we weren’t using it. We were advised anyone with a vehicle staying at the hotel with a vehicle was charged the overnight parking ($50+/night) apparently whether they used it or not. I also asked about the IHG VIp parking directly behind the hotel that could have fit my vehicle, and was advised it was for checkin only, although there were guest vehicles parked there overnight.

I enquired again when I checked out, and was advised the same.

I emailed the hotel and IHG Guest services when I checked out, and addressed my concerns about being charged for hotel parking, when it wasn’t provided. I was advised although I wasn’t parked in the secure / gated / covered parking, and was essentially parked in an open space outside the hotel I was responsible for the charges and would not be reimbursed or even provided a discount on the parking rate.

I could have gotten park the check in location, or how outdated the rooms were, but after this parking situation and the response from the hotel, this is one IHG property that I will never stay at again. There are a TON of better hotels close to Clifton Hill that are more updated and includes free on site parking.

Definitely don’t waste your time with this one.

We traveled to Niagara Falls over July 4th and stayed at the Crowne Plaza Fallsview. We arrived by car really early in the morning so our room was not yet ready. The staff were very helpful and kind - they provided us with a goody bag of items such as water, coupons, and several WeGo bus passes! Those passes were excellent as they enabled us to leave our car in the garage and explore Niagara Falls without needing to deal with expensive parking at each site.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was quite spacious. It was great for 2 adults and 2 young kids. I agree with other reviews that the rooms are quite dated but the views are spectacular. We were able to watch the evening fireworks from the comfort of our rooms. This was a huge perk given that it was really hot, humid, and crowded outside. The bathroom was was a bit cramped and we did notice a slow-moving drain for the tub but overall, the room was fine for us. It took awhile for the AC to really cool the room but it was a very hot day and luckily, we were very comfortable by the evening.

For anyone with an electric vehicle, they have several designated parking spots for EVs but they were basically your standard outlet. It was a slow charge but it was fine for us since it was free and we didn't use our car at all during our stay.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We loved staying so close to the falls and it was very convenient to enjoy the sites of Niagara Falls.

Falls view room costs about $400 and they are so old and small. The window is so small and view is not worth it at all, not what it seems as advertised. Bathroom smells and would not recommend staying here, newer hotels nearby have full blown windows with amazing view of the falls. This was very disappointing and will not book a room at this hotel again.

Do not stay here unless you are a very tiny human! My poor husband could barely use the bathroom and toilet! Also, our room was supposed to have a view of the falls, but it was only if you pressed your head to the window and looked to the far left! The doors do not block out any noise. The toilet ran all the time. Great location, but badly in need of updates. Also, we had to pay a resort fee when we didn’t even do resort stuff. Parking was supposed to be $40 a day, yet we were charged $45! My friend’s bed had a huge dip in it and they had to sleep across the bed!

It was very comfortable staying with crown plaza hotel Niagara Falls , we have room at 11th floor with open terrace , location is very good, staff was very friendly , value for money,
Breakfast was excellent and the view from restaurant was great, overall good to stay at Crown Plaza
