I don't really know where to start. The place is private and secluded on a quiet inlet. The house is perfect and the photos don't do it justice. This place is perfect if you kayak, canoe, or paddleboard. But be careful if you go into the water, we did see several large jellyfish in there (which was amazing to look at too).
Our first evening, a family of otters showed off to us by jumping on the dock. We also saw bunnies, deer, a squirrel, and harbour seals.
This place is close to so many other places and is a perfect hub if you want to explore the island. Simply pick up a few groceries on your way in, and you're set.
Also, if you are looking for a quiet place to work (e.g. writing), this is it! I had a proposal due while we were there and was able to finish it in comfort and peace.
We will definitely be recommending it and returning!
Absolutely a wonderful home and property. Everything was just right. Home was very clean and surrounding grounds were well taken care of. The 180 degree view was fabulous. Kurt was very helpful and the booking and stay was flawless. We will try to go again in the furure.
From the long, scenic, winding driveway to its quiet location on a rock plateau above the sparking waters of Finlayson Arm, this home is spectacular, and we thoroughly enjoyed our 8 night stay. Perfectly located for quick drives into downtown Victoria, hiking at Goldstream or Gowlland Tod parks, or longer drives around the island.
After spending the first week of our anniversary trip in a hotel, we were glad to be able to buy groceries nearby (Market on Millstream), have healthy breakfasts and good coffee (there is both an espresso machine and a drip coffee maker available) and grill our dinners out on the deck. There is everything you'd want (and more!), and the whole home is clean and inviting - a perfect home base. We loved relaxing on deck, or down on the dock watching the abundance of aquatic life. We even had a couple of sea lions fairly regularly serenade us at night - so very cool!
Thank you, Kurt - for being a terrific host, providing lots of information, and answering all of our questions as the dates of our stay drew near. We were sad to leave, but we will certainly return to this spot on our next BC adventure!
The house was incredible with amazing water views. Had fun exploring just around the cabin and also to Sooke where we zip-lined and had fantastic lunch at Shirley Delicious. Be sure to check out Red Fish Blue Fish in Victoria as well. We traveled with another couple and intend to return. Kurt was extremely helpful and provided a lot of extra info for make our trip memorable. The house was exquisite and very clean!
This house was far more beautiful and comfortable than the photos and descriptions showed. The house is well-appointed, airy and perfectly situated on a bluff overlooking Finlayson Arm. Tha Arm itself is clear, deep and thrillingly cool for snorkeling in August. The owner helped me navigate a tricky situation with the reservation and was gracious throughout, making it a wonderful trip.
