“Not bad...”

Cute little cottage, beautiful view. Toilet on main floor made a strange noise when flushing, very bad wasp problem outside on the deck area. The cottage itself had a great layout, and was decently furnished. Could use some repainting and carpet cleaning. The BBQ was cheap, and the handle fell right off when we went to use it. We informed the owner about it & were charged to our credit card without any explanation or receipt. The day we arrived, there were forest fires in the area, and our electricity went out that evening, and was out for over 24 hours. We had to drive into Vernon at night and purchase a cooler & ice for all of the perishables we had just purchased for the week. The unreasonable $122.38 charge to our credit card for the "repair" of the BBQ handle was ridiculous. Particularly when it was done without our consent & then we were ignored when we tried to contact the owner to find out what the charge was for. The owner requested we not wash the comforters on the bed - gross!!! These should be washed for every new renter. A little disappointed with the "beach" area, very rocky & sharp drop off - not safe for children. The pools were nice, although overcrowded. The best part was the views, the cottage would be great with a little more attention - also courtesy towards renters goes a long way.

We are sorry that your stay was not 100%. Our comments on each of your issues are as follows:

- Toilet flushing noises are common and not every toilet makes the exact same sounds. The fact that in all of the years we have rented out cottages and no one else has ever complained about toilet flushing noises we would consider this petty.

- Sometimes during the year in certain areas the wasps may be abundant, however traps and deterrents are placed outside around the deck area of each cottage.

- Unfortunately, forest fires and other acts of God happen from time-to-time in the summer and we have no control over them and power outages.

- The majority of the cottages use the same average type (not cheap) BBQ that you were provided with and you are the first one to have experienced a broken handle which does not break or repair itself. Maintenance had to do a temporary spot repair for the next immediate guests. Maintenance does not stock replacement BBQ handles and had to do a special pick-up of the part which was $37.80 plus there is normally a minimum $50.00 labor charge for each repair visit plus travel time costs for getting parts. Therefore, there is nothing unreasonable about the $122.38 repair charge.

- It is not common general practice in most places anyways to wash comforters between each guest stay.

- It is not common practice to wash carpets between each guest stay. Carpets are typically fully steam cleaned every 6 months with occasional spot cleaning as required in-between guest stays.

- Due to growing restrictions on how lake front and beaches can be developed the owners cannot modify existing waterfront by trucking in more sand. Plenty of guests including children do use the beach, lakefront and lake with or without water type socks/shoes.

- With it being peak high demand season during the summer months of July and August it should be no surprise that the swimming pools would appear to be over crowded at times. Fortunately a third swimming pool and hot tub will be implemented in the near future.

In closing, we are sorry that your stay was not 100% and we appreciate the feedback. We simply cannot subsidise damage during all guest stays. As well, the cottages do receive heavy use in the summer (near 100% occupancy), therefore it is not practical nor cost effective to have everything in pristine like new condition at all times.

We wish you all the best on your future vacationing!

“Great place to stay and awesome view”
Reviewed 19 December 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Homeless between selling and buying a home in Kelowna La Casa was a great place to stay. Keith Fisher and big Al were great friends who help us out immensely everyday and told us what to do and where to go. Being from the Prairies we did not know where to go or what to do for gas, food, etc. and Al was so helpful and kind I wish I had a million dolllars to share with people like him. To Keith and his staff thank you very much.without your kindness our transition into our new home would have traumatic with two teenagers and two big yellow labs. Will never forget the La Casa thanks again........KirkAdam

We had an amazing time in the cottage! It is fully furnished and had everything we could possibly want. The colors, the furniture, the view were all amazing and very relaxing to the point that it felt great to stay inside at the times we did not go out. To have a breakfast next to the view or BBQ our dinners and have that on the patio was simply a pleasure. I highly recommend that to everyone. Thank you guys, you made our stay a true and memorable pleasure!
