The Sydney Living Museum has control of this wonderful old historic homestead and farm. As part of Naidoc week they have a celebration on the property. This combines a visit to the homestead with a number of activities from the local indigenous peoples. A great way to spend the day and see a part of New South Wales colonial history.

Build by Town planner Rouse, gifted by Governor Macquarie after Rouse Stayed loyal to Bligh ( I believe). Descendants of the family still live locally. Has the famous R brand as mentioned in The Man From Snowy River. The property has the oldest European style garden in Australia. The stable complex is quite impressive by any standards.

We love history, go on many historical visits in Australia, Europe and elsewhere. We looked forward to this visit and were impressed by the school house tour. It was "living history". But the house and farm tour were altogether disappointing that the guide sadly offered no narrative and even muddled dates. Such a missed opportunity especially when we were told there were great stories in the six generations who lived there.

We recently had family over from the UK, having lived in Rouse Hill for the past 8 years we had never visited the site. What an experience, amazing how the property has been kept as to when the last family member past. Our guide Marnie was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the property. Would recommend a visit.
