Just returned from a lovely stay at The Retreat in Ashover. The property was exceptional, very clean with modern facilities. The views were stunning. Surrounding areas beautiful with lots to do. Ashover itself was a very friendly & quaint little village. Elaine & Ian were extremely accommodating.
We would definitely recommend a stay at The Retreat. Can't wait to return! 5 ☆

“Lovely stay”
Reviewed 12 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Stayed for 3 nights at the Retreat. A beautiful and very well thought out cottage. Cosy and peaceful break away from it all. Lovely welcome and lots of extras. Hoping to return and will be recommending this cottage.

“2nd visit - another great weekend.”
Reviewed 12 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The Retreat was a natural choice for us to spend the weekend for our son's wedding in Chesterfield followed by reception at Ashover Village Hall. This was a second stay for us and once agin we slept well and enjoyed all that this lovely little cottage has to offer.

“Perfect bolthole for two”

We stayed at The Retreat as a surprise min-moon after our wedding in Wingerworth.
The property has been lovingly renovated and beautifully decorated. Despite knowing the area well we could have been anywhere as we enjoyed the peace and relaxation the The Retreat offers. Apart from a gorgeous walk and trips to The Old Poets Corner, we didn't stray far. The kitchen has all the essential and while it's not equipped for entertaining, I don't see this being an issue.
The TVs are smart TVs so if you take a usb you can watch from that or record to it.
The bed was incredibly comfortable. Everywhere was impeccably clean. The books, games and DVDs were a lovely touch. As was the welcome provisions of milk, eggs and bread.
All in all an utterly relaxing mini break and one that we would very much like to repeat. Would highly recommend. Many thanks to Ian and Elaine.

“Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location.”
Reviewed 10 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This was a short break which I booked for my partners 50th, the cottage itself was clean and tidy and fully equipped, and we were provided with milk, bread, eggs and butter which was a lovely touch by the owners.
The location and what the village offered was just what we needed, walking distance to 3 pubs which provide wonderful food and local ales.
There were lots of information on offer in the cottage regarding walks and places of interest.
We had a lovely short break which was made extra special by having beautiful weather.
Will like to visit again.
