We stayed in Wheat Cottage.
It is a comfortable, cozy and clean cottage.
The kitchen is very good equipped, the bed very well.
We recommend it to everyone who loves nature.

“Excellent self catering accommodation in East Sussex”
Reviewed 8 June 2018 for a stay in June 2018

This is a wonderful cottage for a self catering holiday in East Sussex. It is well equipped, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable and very tastefully decorated. The owner provides a great welcome and makes sure all is well. Also, it is good value for money.

The cottage is in an extremely quiet hamlet where bird song greets you when you wake up in the morning.

“Love Granary Cottages”
Reviewed 23 April 2018 for a stay in April 2018

Fantastic stay......we have stayed in Wheat Cottage twice now and love it we have also stayed in Barley Cottage last Christmas 2017.

We cannot fault our stay in either property it is our home from home as we live in Majorca but come back regularly to see family in the area and for work purposes we love the peace and tranquillity and cannot fault anything. Katie is lovely and on hand if you need her but never intrusive . We love it so much that we have multiple bookings and combine our stay at the cottages with also staying with family nearby. Granary Cottages are our little oasis of calm as we love the English countryside.

“Wonderful cottage amidst the rolling Sussex Countryside”
Reviewed 8 January 2018 for a stay in July 2017

This is a late review but I hadn't realised I could review the property on tripadvisor, silly me.

My fiancé and I got engaged while staying at Wheat for six weeks during the summer of 2017 and I also graduated from the University of Kent, so this cottage will always hold a special place in my heart. It is a gorgeously converted home in a stunning location, literally surrounded by green fields without an eye sore in sight.

It's a beautifully fitted out cottage and has everything you might need, especially if you are an avid self caterer like ourselves. It is a middle cottage between two but we never were disturbed by neighbours on either side. Katie is an attentive and thoughtful host. Location wise, you are only 20 minutes from the wonderful town of Lewes, where you have a great selection of shops and restaurants. You are also only 20 minutes from great beaches and not far from many amazing walks along the South Downs.

We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning!

“Relaxing country retreat”
Reviewed 7 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Wheat Cottage is one of three holiday cottages situated within a converted Granary. It is very much off the beaten track which is both wonderful if you want to lose yourself in the countryside but also frustrating because you can also genuinely get lost! (We drove around for a while before we finally found it. Good, specific satnav details are essential!)

On arrival that thing that struck us the most was how much prettier the cottage looked than the photos on the website. We were met by a small gated front garden which was perfect for relaxing in the sunshine. Parking is conveniently situated directly in front of the garden.

Once inside the cottage we were in for further treats. The dining area is situated to the left of the entrance and there is a sunroom to the right. Walking through you come to the spacious open-plan living room and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would require and more. The kitchen door leads onto a small patio where you can sit and relax. We had a lovely barbecue in this space.
Walking up the stairs one passes by 2 lovely carvings of elephants - it is the small details in the cottage that make it feel cosy and homely. Upstairs in the spacious bedroom a huge double bed dominates the space. We were bringing our 4 year-old and Katie had kindly set up a put-up bed for her. Even with this extra bed the space in the room was ample. The bathroom is en suite and can also be accessed from the stairway. Again, plenty of room in here - a bath and a shower as well as a view over the back of the farm - endless, luscious greenery. Coming from London, those views were very much appreciated!

The interior of the cottage is tastefully decorated and the conversion remains in sympathy with the original architecture of the building. This lends it a rustic charm and sense of being in a 'home from home' environment.

I must admit I was initially apprehensive about this holiday let. We are used to staying at another cottage conversion situated half an hour from where we were here in Chiddingly. However this new location introduced us to other sights and attractions in the area, many of which are of cultural interest. As a former art student, I was stunned to discover I'd unwittingly booked a cottage 5 minutes away from Farley Farm - the home of famous Surrealists Lee Miller and Roland Penrose. I'd been meaning to visit for many years and now I had no excuses as it was just down the road! Farms, Castles, country pubs, the historic town of Lewes, the majestic South Downs, the English Wine Centre and even the seaside are but a stones throw away from this gem of a holiday home.

As if all of that weren't enough the owners of the cottage were on hand if needed (they live in the farm behind the cottages) but also equally discreet. We needed to print out tickets to an event we had booked and Katie very kindly did so for us. They were most pleasant and accommodating. The only thing I would say to prospective travellers hoping to use the kitchen facilities is to make sure you arrive with food. The nearest town is a fair drive away! We will know to stock our car up for next time And there will be a next time because even though I may have had my initial apprehensions I now know I would happily return to Wheat Cottage in the blink of an eye.
