The room was very nice, but only 3 coat hangers,no hooks for coats etc. you get great views over the estuary, but a bit noisy from the bar if you fancy an early night. The breakfast was OK, but evening menu very sparse. Strange that breakfast is 9-10am, if you are going out about then that's not a lot of good.

Food was slightly above average, rooms were nice and new once you got inside but had to climb through a building site to get there. Felt a bit dodgy as the back door was open the whole time.
Not bad but definitely overpriced overall. Staff were very accommodating though.

beautiful rooms being renovated
the renovations didn't bother us but may someone else, sure by summer they will be complete.
breakfast on day one was lovely, day 2 not sure.
overall I would return.
the wake was fabulous but ran out of food and service slow...not sure they were expecting such numbers, on a normal day im sure service would be fine.

Room Tip: lovely sea views

My mum and I checked in yesterday for a three night break in a family suite with bedrooms on the ground and first floor. We were so impressed we have booked already for May half term and August. Room 9 was wonderful in size and can sleep up to four people (2 x adults and 2 x kids) and decorated to a high standard. My mum is hard to please and she was impressed with my Booking.com find. Great value for money and friendly staff. Spotlessly clean rooms and bathroom.

We have been coming to Mersea for many years and have seen the Victory under many different managements. We first came under the new Managment at the end of last season for a drink. Service was slow, Managment was lacking and we weren’t reassured when we heard the staff speaking in the staff room with the door open not in the most positive light about the customers in general.
We came back this season looking to eat having looked at the menu on their website. The public bar is closed at the moment so the main bar is busy but the menu boasts of local produce so we went ahead and ordered.
The plus point is the young lady that served us was helpful and efficient. The downside to all this is the food has deteriorated under the new management and nearly all our food apart from the ham, egg and chips was pretty poor and very dry and definitely bought in.
We are hoping once the renovations to the bar area are complete ( the rooms do sound good) that they will concentrate on improving food and it would be good to see visible Managment. Fingers crossed as this is a great location with lovely views.
