My husband and I invite our adult son and daughter (late 20's) on a 4 night Christmas trip each year. It was important that our kids could walk to whatever they wanted to do. You could not ask for a better location than Jimmy's condo at Marina del Sol. It was walking distance to Mendano Beach, the Marina and Downtown. The condo was very clean, overlooked the pool area and was nicely furnished. I'm not a beach person so i enjoyed my time at the great (warm) pool that had an attentive staff from the on-premise restaurant/bar. Many of the people I met at the pool were repeat guests. Everyone was friendly and freely shared all of their knowledge on things to do and places to eat in Cabo. Take advantage of this information! We did and we didn't have one restaurant or activity disappoint us. Jimmy is also a wealth of information. Elly, the concierge at Marina del Sol,and her brother Jose, provided exceptional customer service. You can ask Elly and Jose about ANYTHING and they will help you. Elly booked a fishing trip for us for the morning after we arrived. We set sail on the Frenchy and the crew, Juan and Jesus, were experienced fishermen. Both spoke decent English although when the fish started biting...all conversation was in excited Spanish! Our crew brought our fish to a place that skinned and filleted our fish for $3.00 USD per fish. OMG! We had over 40 lbs of fresh Mahi Mahi! See @jayarol on Twitter for a pix of our successful fishing expedition. Elly told us of a great local restaurant that would cook our fresh fish,. They also prepare it right at the Marina del Sol restaurant. We froze the rest of our catch. My husband and and son golfed one day at the Cabo Country Club (bring lots of balls - they are decent golfers and lost 19 balls!) My daughter and I took a 4 hour cooking class at Huerto los Tamarindos - an organic farm 40 mins. outside of Cabo. (Private driver arranged by Elly was $55.USD.) This was another suggestion from a pool friend I met at the resort. We made a wonderful 4 course lunch. If you like food or like to cook, I highly recommend this. The Serrano pepper Margaritas are wonderful! (After you finish with your knife work).
A few tips:
- Credit cards are accepted everywhere but the fishing trip was cash only ($460 includes licenses and bait plus $40 tip- 2 man crew). Book in advance and maybe you can use a credit card.. Styrofoam coolers are NOT allowed on any airlines. Buy or bring a hard-sided coole if you want to take fish home.Frozen ice packs may be accepted but frozen bags of ice cubes are not!
- Jimmy will transport you to and from the airport - $70.00 (cash) each way. Cheaper than anyone else. And you get to pick his brain about Cabo. Priceless!
- The convenience store in the resort sells a little of everything.Although the condo is furnished, it does not supply paper towels, napkins, or any paper ware or cups. You need this unless you want to be washing stuff all the time. We ran out of toilet paper but it is available for purchase at the min store in the lobby.
- If you pay in cash, you'll get your change in pesos. Bring lots of small US bills-$10's 5's & 1's. All restaurants will give you your bill in pesos and dollars. Always choose to pay in pesos with a credit card. Let your bank get the best exchange rate.
- Our 2 Bedroom/2 Bath condo had the bathrooms within the bedroom suites. .I would prefer a common bathroom that would not require entrance into a bedroom. One bedroom had a separate toilet. The showers were very open (glass walls). Both bedrooms had queen or larger beds but our son slept on the living room couch. Comfortable, but not ideal. There wasn't a 3 bedroom available for the time we needed but I would look for this for a future booking.
In summary, our family's "Christmas in Cabo" was the BEST! Our kids had a blast and want to return. Thanks, Jimmy! You made us feel like family. Great hospitality. Happy New Year and hope to see you again.

“FOR REAL -AMAZING LOCATION”

My sister and I first visit to Cabo. I am early 60's my sister late 50's. spent 7 days.Yes it's true everything was within easy walking distance of this location; beach; marina; downtown. if you go out the back gate nice little coffee place with an assortment of healthy/energy drinks; go out the front door amazing little taco house. If you just want to sit by the pool quiet and restful with shade available. Safety and security for us we never felt uncomfortable early in the morning or at night walking to or from the property. There are a always Taxis available be aware going one city block will be $10 US. We walked from the marina and to and from downtown a few times and the beach no problems. The condo; beds were great; yes 2 bd 2 bath right in the room. patio was great to enjoy morning coffee; or evening drinks. it seemed every restaurant had amazing food and service. please try it all from the small places to the fancy where the waiter places the napkin on your lap; for us all the food was amazing. I had no issues paying in dollars or pesos, just ask if they will take credit card we had no problems in that regard. just be aware your change may come back in pesos. If you have any problems or questions the security people or the person at the front desk is more than willing to help. Baja jimmy is available if you have any questions before your arrival; he got back to me within 24 hours most of the time sooner. He is more than willing to answer all your questions about the area or if you have questions about fishing or any other adventures you may want to do; be sure to ask Jimmy about transport from the airport to the condo Jimmy will be your driver if you choose. There has to be something bad right? ok here it is; I wish there was a better lamp when I was reading in bed. My sleep can be very broken at times; and not being the party animal any more I enjoy relaxing with a book at times even on vacation. One more thing if you want to go to a regular grocery you will need to take a cab or the bus to get to Wal-Mart. If you want to pay $20 a night or $1000 a night yes there are both available but this condo was perfect for us; it is as advertised. There is a small convenience store on site open during the day. Bring your sandals; shorts and t-shirts that's all you need and prepare to relax and enjoy.

This condo is walking distance to everything - Medano Beach, the mall and all of the restaurants. We took a taxi once during our 10 day stay and that was to go to Walmart for groceries.

This was the perfect condo which definitely was our home away from home. Everything that we needed, the condo had. We really fell in love with the place.

Jimmy the owner was the perfect host. This guy was always smiling and such a pleasure to deal with. He was on time for the airport pickup and drop off. All email communication prior to our vacation and during was quick.

Will definitely recommend his condo to friends/family as we will definitely rent from him again.

The owner, Baja Jimmy, picked us up at the airport and was such a great host our entire stay. Anything we needed, we could call him, which we did when we forgot to call our banks about our Visa in Mexico. JImmy did not even question the problem and offered a ride to his house to make the phone calls.

The ads and reviews of this condo are exactly what they say, Amazing! It really is a wonderfully clean condo with a large pool the kids enjoyed. It felt very safe around the condo, town, marina, beach, and side streets. The condo complex is gated and has security. This was great to keep track of the kids knowing they did not wander off. We walked everywhere with no hassles. There is a large newer mall a couple blocks away that was amazing and modern. There was even a large cinema on the top floor we checked out.

The excursions are plentiful and would take a month to do them all! We did the Cactus ATV sunset beach/desert tour that really was a ton of fun. Cabo dolphins was exceptional and very interactive. This program allows way more interaction with the dolphins than other programs I have been to. The entire group was having the time of their life! We also did the Sun Rider snorkel and lunch tour out to Chileno Bay. We heard the food was really good on this boat and they were absolutely correct! Great boat ride out past the arc, lovers beach, even saw a whale the captain turned around to capture photos, and they fed the fish for our boat passengers so there were plenty to see without going to far. The condo actually has a concierge, Raul, that speaks good English and was great help in booking excursions. He told us reports of what prior clients had said which helped us pick throught the brochures and choose what fit our needs. Thank you to Raul, too!

The food at the marina was world class, as advertised. It was so hard to choose. we didn't even get to some of the places we wanted. Our family particularly liked Senior Sweets. The food at the condo was actually pretty good and very friendly.

The only negative, if one could call it that, was the grocery store was like a Costco and couldn't carry large volumes of food/drinks back to the condo. The taxi ride is about $10. The frequent condo dwellers said they prefer Walmart which was a lot farther and needed a car or pay more for the taxi. We never made it over there. We could have cooked more in the condo since it was fullly equiped, but the food choices around were so plentiful. The kids loved the chicken quesadilla's at the restarurant down at the pool and ate several of them. There is also a great little bakery out the backside of the condo property that served fresh coffee and pastries each day. The bakery was right across from another great restaurant we tried, Sharky's, which was a mesquite grill.

Lastly, it is Mexico, but the vendors on the beach were really aggressive and swarmed us constantly with selling items, braiding hair, water sport activities, etc...I think it was particularly bad because a cruise ship was in the bay. Once the ship left things calmed down some. Every local had something to sell which often was very pretty jewelry and local ceramics, rugs, hats. Be aware of many of these sales vendors are working for time share companies or large resorts that are looking for buyers. This happened many times.

Overall, what a great place! We were not disappointed and Jimmy was a great source of knowledge. He is so genuine and really can tell he loves it in Cabo! He even has a night club we went to a fantastic show that is only once a week...a burlesque show that was so tasteful and the singers sang in mostly perfect English.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! We will be back and my daughter already has plans to return for her high school senior graduation trip.
