I had a voucher for afternoon tea at the Clumber Park Hotel and went with a friend on Fathers Day.
It was quite quiet when we arrived at about 3.30 which tells you something...
Firstly beware - my satnav abandoned me somewhere about 3/4 of a mile before the hotel: keep driving ( past the entrance to Clumber Park itself if you’re driving south from the A1/A57 on Blyth Road ) and it will appear on the left.
It looks like a Travelodge.
We ate in a very unattractive dining room, just two tables were laid with white linen, next to each other! Laminated menu and very casual service.
To be fair to one member of staff, she was very pleasant and helpful. Service was slow but that wasn’t a problem.
Choice of teas and coffees. The food arrived nicely presented on a tiered stand.
Sandwiches were fresh and fine ( but, oddly, you had to chose one variety only ).
The little cakes were very nice, and looked very pretty too
Two scones each, with clotted cream and jam ... apparently they had been warm when they arrived but two were inedible when we came to eat them as were rock hard.... I guess they had been warmed to try to freshen them up.
The afternoon tea was very cheap there (always suspect vouchers!) but it wasn’t special really; I’d say, save up and go somewhere nicerMore
