I wish I could give it a half star more...there's nothing wrong with the hotel. It was a perfectly fine place to stay, but once you visit San Miguel de Allende, you'll realize that there are so many great boutique hotels closer to the heart of the city. I think this is a great place if you're with a group, or with kids or just looking for a good deal.
The price is fair and like I said the location is "good". It definitely is a walk to get into the city square from this hotel, but if you don't feel like walking there are plenty of taxi's, I personally enjoyed the walk, there are plenty of restaurants and shops to peek into along the way. The city isn't that big, so you really can walk just about anywhere. Also, it's a quick walk to the Rosewood Hotel which is much more expensive, but you can go up to their rooftop bar for an amazing view.
Back to this hotel...as many travelers said, the walls are thin, and while there is wifi, the signal in my room was not very strong, compared to what I could get in the lobby. The breakfast buffet was good, on the days that they actually had it. It wasn't an everyday thing. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well.More
