This was our first kid free getaway in 10 years! This adults only resort was amazing! It was a series of small buildings on a mid size property. The beach front was large and sandy with day beds and chairs that were first come first serve. They had kyaks for free use as well. The pool was smaller but but had lots of chairs (first come first serve). No swim up bar but a pool bar and resturant were just steps away with top shelf liquor and great service. The wait staff was fantastic. There is a dress code for dinner so check that out.
The resturants and bars on the property offerd good variety. We did not eat at the Italin restaurant but heard it was good. We are foodies and we were happy with all of our meals. I recommend to splurge on the chefs table it was a great experience and the food was divine!

I used the spa and had a one hour message that was very good. We booked through Costco and had some coupons ans credits to use.

Tips: call ahead and ask for which building you wiuld like. We had building C top floor room and it was a partial ocean view and half way between the pool and the restaurants.
There is a mini fridge in the room. Dont be afraid to ask the concierge to stock it with the drinks you prefer.

This was our first return visit since the switch to Barcelo.

The positives, staff, service, rooms (particularly the two story ocean view we always stay in), grounds, location and beach remain best in region, in my opinion.

Negatives, the food quality has deteriorated. Frankly, only the Asian restaurant left me highly impressed, despite the fact that the AC wasn’t working properly. While service and presentation remains high quality, it appears that perhaps the food supplier may have changed or maybe the chefs? Also, pool side food quality has definitely detoriated (particularly the burger meat, is it really meat?). Room service options have been reduced as well, compared to previous years (virtually limited to the pool options and you can no longer order alacart).

Finally, what happened to the awesome. Hawk (Lucy)? Another differentiator from other resorts was the lack of seagulls and birds harrasing you, which no longer is the case (perhaps Lucy’s under contract with Occidental).

The reason I still give RH 4 stars are the items I mentioned above aynd again, tstaff are really awesome!

You can not find a better all-inclusive resort than the Royal Hideway Playacar! Food is excellent and so are the employees. The grounds are beautiful, the beach is very nice and the pool is sparking. We had a great vacation and will definitely return.

This was our second time staying at the RH. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, this adults only resort was luxurious. The service is unbelievable, EVERY member of the staff is so helpful. Great food in all the restaurants. Entertainment every night, lots of fun with Silent DJ!

My husband and myself came here Monday the 15th, we have been to the restaurants, pools and beach. I have never in my life had such amazing service, Richardo at the beach is quick and so nice, abraham our personal concierge has made sure our trip is amazing, Jaun who helps with entries and exits goes above and beyond & Erick in the Grille is the best server I've ever had anywhere!
