It’s simple to take a water taxi between Playa del Carmen and Cozumel but riding first class on Ultramar is awesome. Wide leather seats, club seating with tables, coffee, snacks and all indoor.

As residents of Puerto Aventuras we have used UltraMar ferry service to Cozumel many times. This time we were going to Isla Mujeres for 4 days for our anniversary. We met Juan Canales at the UltraMar booth near the ferry terminal in PdC. Juan did an outstanding job of explaining how UltrMar could take us via van to Cancun, a ferry to Isla Mujeres, then the same back again. He made sure knew where and when to catch the van and ferry going there and coming back. Much to our surprise he also followed up the day before our trip as a reminder, then again later the next day to make sure we had no issues getting there. We will definitely continue using UltraMar in the future.
Whenever we visit Mexico we always take this ferry to Cozumel...Extremely comfortable and very friendly...The band plays whilst you are travelling which makes it more special...Would highly recommend :)
We found them on time, comfortable, and had air conditioning. Only 30 minutes to ferry ride to Cozumel.
Come a little early for the ferry to find seats if coming in a group(depending on which boat you gets, some bigger than others) . We were the first 50 ppl so we got a spot where we wanted. People who came later didn't have alot of options. The ferry was pretty crowded. We did go on the 10am ferry. Ton of ticket sellers near the pier. They sell snacks and drinks on the boat. Don't sit in the front if you get sea sick. It's a bit rough up there.
We rode the Ultramar round trip to Cozumel and back and both times we left feeling impressed. Our luggage was handled and redistributed back to us quickly, the prices were low and the seating was clean and comfortable! Both times the total trip time was about 35 minutes/each way and I can’t imagine a more efficient or nicer way to travel from the mainland. It was a much needed break for us after lugging gear and luggage all day long - highly recommended!
