We enjoyed the best family vacation ever at the Westin Lagunamar Cancun! Ten of us, young and old, arrived later in the day - sadly the transportation by concierge recommended 'The One' was delayed by 45 minutes. Once we arrived at the hotel, check-in was slow but we were grateful that we were able to get all four rooms in close proximity to each other. (Thanks to our great concierge, more on that later) Another hiccup was that Mastercard was not accepted for for room purchases (although the front desk charged our misc taxes to it before we checked out) so we were unable to charge to our room. Thankfully others in our party were so it worked out ok. Once we were checked in, had a great sleep and stocked up at Costco, the fun began! The pool was amazing and our littles were obsessed with the waterslide. Our concierge Javier was wonderful and arranged a private catamaran day as well as Captain Cook pirate ship dinner theater. He checked in on us several times during our stay so we felt very well taken care of. The beach was beautiful but wind and choppy water for the first 5 days prevented us from enjoying it at the beginning of our stay. The mall across the street with a wide variety of restaurants was perfect when we weren't grilling our own family meals. All in all, a good time was had by all!

Check-in as guest… they ask if you will do the sales presentation.
Ask for ANYTHNG from desk during your stay… they are trained to tell you that you should really see the presentation.

Say no firmly decisively but kindly… they mark your reservation and then move to “tell us why” at every encounter.

Try to book an excursion… they call your “personal concierge” (sales agent) who insists you should want do the presentation.
Try to ask for something for your room, basic service… they call your “personal concierge.”

Say you’re trying to have a nice family vacation with no pressure… the next desk agent asks if you will do the presentation and if not “why not?”

It never ends, until you exit the property. I’m not sure, maybe they will follow me home too.

It isn’t nice or fun or about service. I really tried but they made it unpleasant to need anything other than a self service vacation with no encounters with staff.

I’m Bonvoy Platinum almost ten years running… I have seen a lot. This place is super EXTRA on the sales pressure. Make your own call if it’s what you want.

Just don’t think you can make it stop or not happen, no matter how nice or clear you are. It is the situation here… I’m here right now. May 2024.

I absolutely loved the bed in this hotel! I felt as if I was sleeping on clouds! Many times when you visit abroad the beds are uncomfortable! Westin Lagunamar is right across from the La Isla mall. The grounds are well kept! I would like to give a special shoutout to my concierge- Matthew P. hailing from the UK! He was the best concierge that I can recall ever! Matthew was attentive and followed through! The hospitality was natural with him as he gave end to end service for all of my requests as well as great recommendations all with a jovial laugh and smile!
Things that were nice about my room was the view of the beach and the conveniences of home in the junior suite! I was able to bring leftovers to my room, refrigerate them like my guacamole and tacos and heat them up on a later day. I was also able to wash my clothes and dry them! The jetted tub in the bathroom was nice and I was able to soak one evening! Be careful though I thought I had the water at the right level just above the jets and when I jumped in I experienced a lil overflow of water. The offc. Workers were nice too! The food was delicious and the drinks. The Crimson tide was my favorite and the Carne asada tacos were scrumptious with the delicious guacamole. Just be prepared for the $$. It was convenient getting coffee at Starbucks on the premises and getting meals at the mall across the street. The ice cream 🍦 at the mall is so good! The Mexican food was also descent! I made great memories and Westin has been great to me over the years! When feeling satisfied the saying goes, “they owe me nothing!!”
