Westin Lagunamar has the most accommodating and friendly staff we've encountered anywhere. Before you ever enter the front door, there's a smiling guard at the front gate, a friendly helpful person to assist with luggage and whatever else you might need as the door opens. Miguel, at checkin, was able to consolidate several consecutive reservations into two reservations that provided us with minimal moves and inconvenience. Our rooms were consistently well decorated, comfortable and viewed the water, but each provided unique views...sunrise, ruins, wind sailors, infinity pool and top floor overviews. Unfortunately Pedro was on vacation but Laura, concierge, booked our dinner reservations; Ernesto, concierge, had the best sense of humor and provided tips that were helpful. A massage by Carlos was invigorating and stretched muscles grown tight from days sitting in the sun! Anel's massage was relaxing and soothing and Anel has the softest and friendliest personality. We spent much of our time in and around the quieter of the pools and the service by Marco and Webster was the best, bar none! We were able to laugh, attempt to speak Spanish (Marco and Webster were very patient), chat, drink and eat. Both were very professional, always there if we needed another drink or food but never invasive. Checkout was a breeze but we hated to do it...we would have preferred to stay!

We traded a week with Interval International for a one bedroom condo at this resort. The location is devine - right near lots of restaurants and shopping and bus stop right in front. The resort itself is also very nice - large yet broken into two pool areas which makes it manageable. The condo itself had very nice decor that was well kept up. The heavenly bed was a delight to sleep on and pillows were comfy too. Housekeeping came in mid-week to change bed linens and towels and take out garbage. We were only two blocks from a major grocery store (Kulkakan Mall) so could stock up easily for breakfast, lunch, snacks and liquor.

The resort provides shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, silverware, etc. We brought coffee filters but no need to use because of the coffee filter with the coffee maker. Dish washing liquid, sponge, paper towels and dishwasher packets were also provided. Probably the best was the in unit washer/dryer and liquid detergent was provided which made for easy washing of bathing suits and coverups each day after the pool.

The condo is set up as a one bedroom but there is the ability to connect to the studio next door and make it a two bedroom unit. There is a balcony with table and 4 chairs connected through each bedroom....the balcony is small but if having a few drinks or snacks is doable. Every unit has a view of the ocean although the even numbered buildings (14 total) seem to look to the pool area and the odd numbered units look outside the resort. We were in Building 13, unit 55 and looked out towards Live Aqua next door and the ocean. It was a beautiful view and we preferred that over looking at the pool area and possibly having the noise of the pool area.

Plenty of chairs by the pool and down on the beach as well as umbrellas and palappas on the beach. Since we were there the week after Thanksgiving, the resort was not crowded and easy to get chairs at any time. However, the resort has a policy (that you sign at check-in) not to hold a chair for more than 45 minutes or your belongings will be confiscated. We initially picked up our belongings when heading up for lunch for an hour or so but then noticed that others were leaving their stuff for at least as long and just left our belongings. But at high season, would guess that the policy is strictly enforced.

Concierges were very helpful in recommending restaurants and ferry to Isla Mujeres. Have them set up reservations for you as this gives you access to better seating and some of the discounts at restaurants. We did not get a hard sell on time share opportunities but were told about the sale meeting and "prizes/credits" that would be offered. Staff at this resort are incredibly friendly and helpful - even the maintenance guys!!

We will definitely consider this resort if coming back to Cancun. A Westin member told us that all their resorts are set up similarly, so we will be looking for other Westin properties if trading with Interval. We use USA Transfers for our transportation to/from the airport. They are extremely reliable and professional and timely.
